This school has made me feel helpless that I must send my child to a place that is filled with childish adults that has no check on their ability to bully children. I feel that one of the teachers are mentally unstable and has no business around children. The leadership (superintendent) requires a background check on all parents that must sign their child out. This government organization can call you in and make you submit to a background check. Then they print your drivers license on a sticker, and put it in a book.

Over the course of 9 years only the past two we have had issues. It comes from the principal's. They will call your kids liars. They will harass them. They will terrify them into saying what they want them to. They reward bullies with cupcakes and toys in front of everyone. The recess monitor system and camera system is a joke. They have everything in camera but won't show you or say they didn't get that part of the playground. The bruises and assaults on the playground are told to you they fell or scratched themselves and it's rarely the case. The TEACHERS are AMAZING. the administration is not.

Do NOT under any circumstances send your child to school here! Elementary school has several playground monitors and all they do is talk to one another and don't pay anything attention to the kids. Then when a child is body slammed or punched r onocked to the ground with another child's foot on their head telling them if they don't get up he will die...the monitors don't see it...so it's his word against his word. This school is the worst for protecting children. They don't care!

Over the past 16 years I've had four children in the Elida school system, one has graduated and one is graduating this year. There have been good years and bad years, but all in all I feel it is a typical school, and like anything else in life it is what you make of it. You can't give mediocre effort and expect exceptional results.

I am not pleased with Elida Elementary. For one they havr no air conditioning for hot days. They do popsicles and water. I dont like the teacher to kid ratio in class and recess. My son would tell the aid and they would do nothing and when he defended himself. .was then punished. The academic part is even worse. They are well below average. We do extra work at home to help him. Also I dont like that they trust an adult to go into the office to sign in. Anyone can walk in. I have and was never once asked who I was. The school he originally came from in Tennessee has a security door and cameras in all hallways and exits and you are greeted by staff to produce a child id card. Also leaving your id in the office and pick it up when you leave and check to make sure you are on the contact list. This should happen in all schools. Next year my child will be going to another school. Ill drive him if I have to. The elementary should be updated. The middle and high school and fields have been. And Elida residents do not pass levys because they dont want to invest property tax into school funding. The elementary school is old and out dated and garbage.

Elida has a huge problem with funding. Several levies have failed and the school operates on a very lean budget. Tax payers dont want to invest in the kids and it shows. The children at Elida coming from varied backgrounds have a wide range of behaviors. Children who bully others are ignored. The teacher to student ratio is sad at times. Many of the problems we have had over the years are due to low ratios. Playground time is supervised by 2 aides when outside and when inside 1 aide is assigned for a hallway of 4 classrooms. The children are left unsupervised during inside recess when the aide is in the other rooms. This is truly unacceptable and unsafe. My children have been pushed, hit, kicked and made fun of during these recess times. When I tell my children to let the recess aide know about the problem, they say that when they do, the aide does not respond. My kids have lost trust in getting the help they need from the aides who are paid to help them. The elementary has had a rapid turnover of staff over the last several years. There has been 4 different principals over the last 6 years. Teacher turnover is just as high. Parental involvement is minimal.
