I recently moved to the area, and I am not pleased with the school district as a whole. I have 2 children that are enrolled in school, and I am questioning how they passed to go to the next grade. I find myself teaching them more than they learn in school. There are no parent teacher conferences and you will not know your child's progress unless you ask. Even asking, they would tell you "Your child is doing great", but I see otherwise. The middle school is ran like a prison because the kids only focus on dating and fighting. There were too many fights that occurred in one year and no respect for each other or the teachers. The schools are overcrowded and outdated. This was not a good experience at all. I hate having to pay taxes to go towards such a waste. Lastly the worst thing is there is no good communication with the district transportation department. I had to take and pick up my kids every day because after I enrolled them and filled out the form so my children would be assigned a bus and they never responded or sent anything. If you ask, no one knows anything either. They have a summer bridge program where the students are required to attend for 3 weeks and said they would be providing transportation during the summer and once again, they did not follow through nor respond to emails. So, I am having to figure out a schedule for my job that will allow me to pick them up.

I go this I hate it don't recommend your children very questionable students go here teachers also are not the best better to put your child in a school where their mental health and energy wont chip away slowly but surely.

As a parent with kids in the community and substitute teacher for EISD, I can say I have been pleasantly surprised by the staff, students and leadership at Elgin Middle School. The kids are sweet and the staff takes a team approach to creating a safe a supportive learning environment.

The education here is entirely based on testing scores. There is little to no influence on character education or community standards. Parents don't have the time to be involved to any meaningful degree. The kids are awful to each other and their teachers. The principals are spread way too thin. The things that take place here are impossible to understand and the teachers can't possibly address all of the issues. Turnover is extremely high, and they don't have enough bilingual staff.

Since moving into the Elgin ISD, our child has excelled academically & socially. We credit the teachers, the school staff, and the District for a great deal of this! Their encouragement and dedication to each student, is part of why we love this school so much!

I feel that Elgin Middle School is a great school because it offers students so many extracurricular and fine arts options. The students are able to take Choir, Dance, Theatre Arts, Symphonic Band, Ensemble Band, Art, PE, Athletics, Lego Robotics, and Career Portals! I am also excited that the students are preparing all 8th grade students to pass the TSI (College Entrance) exam. This give the students the opportunity to start Early College High School at Elgin High School.

Sending my son off to middle school was a scary task but boy, oh boy was I wrong. EMS has certainly put this mama's concerns at ease. I feel very connected due to great communication and my child is thriving! He has some many opportunities afforded him which makes going to school something he actually wants to do. Way to go, EMS!

I understand the concerns that are being stated in the review section for Elgin Middle School, BUT if the concerns are so highly disturbed, how come it's not being addressed to the proper qualified school officials, instead of behind a PC? However, I understand the concerns, and I took it upon myself to address the issues. Moral of the story is, not too many people are outspoken, but when it comes to our children we should take it upon ourselves to make sure their getting the adequate education, and not behind. One person says that parents are not involved? Not true. I must say that theyr'e are not enough parents that are involved, however, maybe the child is succeeding because he/she needs the proper education. Anyone can pass 8th grade on a 5th grades education. Right? So, speak up! We love our children, and want college to be fun to learn and become successful! May God bless you all....

I enjoyed sending my son to Elgin Middle School. The teachers and administration are delightful. There were always enough books, computers and other supplies for the students. Parents need to GET INVOLVED! Most the parents do not get involved, maybe it's because in the part of town zoned for this school they don't speak English? Anyway, I think Elgin Middle School is great!
