We have really enjoyed our year at Rivera. My son is excited about school and enjoys his classmates and teachers. I appreciate that it is a smaller school and the staff seems to know all the students. I was sad when they had a few kids transfer out the second week and they went from two kinders of 15 kids each to one kinder class of 25, I know it is a public school and they have to use resources in the best way but bummed that it went from such a small class to such a large one in a matter of days. The crosswalk guards, the cafeteria and recess monitors all know our sons name and take the time to say hi to him and all the students as they arrive at school. They all seem to be so cheerful and it really begins his day on a high note being welcomed to the school like that. I will say we have had no special attention or needs and I am not sure if those things are handled well or not here, I have heard mixed reviews from friends who have needed special services. I do love that it has a small school feel and helpful staff. The things I am disappointed about (Side bar if we were not moving this summer I would get more involved and I did attempt to join the PTA but after the first virtual meeting I never heard anything additional) I am sad that we haven't had one fieldtrip, one class party where I could participate or come in to be a room mom, no field day, no muffins with mom, no parents involved dances (these are things I have seen at other elementary schools in EPISD). I am sure these are things that are so dependent on volunteers and I know the lady who is running the PTA just started to organize this year so hopefully that will change but I was def. jealous and bummed that I felt like I didn't have anyway to participate in the school activities and or the lack of them. Overall I would still have picked this school. We are in walking distance, and I loved walking him to and from school each day and my close proximity for when he has been sick etc. I do still think he has learned SO much and appreciate the school staff that pours into him each day.

Carlos Rivera has been an excellent school for my son. The office staff and teachers have all been very helpful and friendly. He has excelled both academically and socially. I feel he is being watched over carefully and the staff truly cares about the children.

I love this school, my son was having a hard time in his other school and as soon as he was transferred here, his grades went up and he became a happy kid. Best elementary school ever!! staff and teachers are friendly and helpful.

I think this school has the worse staff from the office all the way to teachers they are worthless and careless if you complain they blame you for bad parent all we do is for the best of our children the teacher screams to all the students and she is very mean to the whole class I had a little party and my daughter invite some kids they all had the same thing to say the 5th grade teacher is so mean and screams to us everyday it is a nightmare to deal with this people no matter how nice you talk to them they need to realized they are dealing with CHILDREN NOT ANIMALS !!!! I am glad the year is almost over !!!!!!!!!!

I had a child in preschool who I withdrew after 2 months, the communication between the parents and the teacher is through a notebook, which she then complains about having to write in, when she created it. She will talk down to you. She mentioned to me that pre-k is not mandatory, okay then fine, here is her review: multiple parents have had bad things to say about her, but feel they need to keep the peace since she is their kids teacher. I have a lot of patience but this one teacher has made me very positive that I will NEVER have anything good to say about the school, even their lunch rules for pre-k is just horrible. Don't take your children here if you care anything about your child's' well-being and academic future, especially if its for pre-k.

I have three boys in this school, teachers are excellent and patient, although the building is quite old and needs a little tlc, my children are doing great , its a shame that this and other schools are not rated based upon their academic performance, but only by what 1 or 2 parents have to say. Go Rangers!!!!!
