Overall this school is great. The vast majority of the teachers are exceptional and invested in the children's education. Wonderful speech therapy team with Mrs. Baker. It is one of the smaller schools in the district and it feels cozy and personable. It feels like there is not a single administrator in the school that doesn't know my 3 children by name.

The system does not cater for children with needs. Families of those students are exploited to add costly attention. A money-grab

This was once a really great school, but the attitude of the administration in the last year has been that kids are bad, undeserving of basic respect of decency. Great expectations are no longer practiced by teachers, but expected of students. Staff is rude and dismissive of parents. They treat this like a prison. If your kid is different in any way - special needs or anything similar - do yourself a favor and fine another school.

We love John Ross. We picked this school for the great comments mentioned over the years and have not been disappointed for the last 3 years. Not surprised the ratings have gone up since we have been there. Our kids have made some great friends and love their teachers.

we loooove John Ross! This is the 2nd EPS elementary school my kids have attended. Our first was a Great Schools rated "10" school in another part of Edmond. After checking the rating here, I was not initially excited about attending John Ross, which was an "8", and almost reconsidered buying our house. We requested a transfer back to our old school, but were denied due to overcrowding. So glad we were! John Ross is leaps and bounds better than our old school. It is a great expectations model school and they do more than just hang the banner. They practice the principles every day. They care about the kids, not just their test scores. They love parents and practice positive reinforment. The teachers have been there for years and the routine is well established, so very little daily chaos (aside from what you would expect for k-5). At our old school, they didn't have daily morning assembly to get the kids geared up for the day. My kids have thrived and I am so glad I didn't get my transfer! The "10" school can learn a lot about how to raise great kids and foster their love of learning from the "8" school.

Absolutely love this school. The best school I have seen since we came back to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, our children have had to endure several school changes and this one by far is the best one. The parent volunteer is awesome and then kids participation and wanting to participate is outstanding. The teachers genially care a great deal about their students. I cannot say enough good things about this school. But I love it!!!!

This is our first year at John Ross after many years at a private school. We are so impressed! The teachers are all extremely professional and seem to enjoy teaching and the kids. They communicate with parents and let you know whats going on, good and bad. The principal and staff are exceptionally helpful even in conflict situations. They seem very proactive on the behavior issues that occur at every school. They dont wait.. they take action immediately. Even though this school is fairly large, it doesnt feel like it. The curruculum plans are well thought out and each grade has an overall plan where the teachers work as a team. We are happy to get get feedback on how our children are developing as compared to national edcuation standards. They intervene when a child is struggling and give them the extra asisstance needed. They challenge the kids who are above grade level to keep them engaged. Every time we walk into the school, we are greeted with friendliness and courtesy. Parents are welcomed into the classrooms and there are always lots of parents there - helping out. We couldn't ask for a better program. Thank You John Ross Teachers and Staff. You are Great!
