My review is referring to my experience with some of the support staff. There are some very nice people working in the school, unfortunately, whomever has been responsible for doing the hiring over the past few years seem to have scraped the bottom of the barrel. There have been some of the nastiest attitudes in grown adults that are working with children that I have seen and so unprofessional in appearance and talking like they’ve no sense. These support staff employees are supposed to be assisting as needed but they don’t seem to want to show up and do the job they were hired to do. Not sure why the heads of the Special Ed dept. and administration are unable to monitor their own problem children employees. Again, I can only speak for grades K-5, but what an absolute disaster this school is. Classroom behavior seems to be an issue according to my child, however, it would appear that nothing is ever resolved as a result of the VP not having a backbone. Revolving door of in and out behavior issues. There are some wonderful teachers, unfortunately, there are a few teachers that seem to be lazy, disorganized, and just waiting for the end of their career. No, I absolutely do not recommend this school at this time.

Horrible place to send your kids to school. Principal and her posse need to be removed and hire some decent and up to date teachers and staff. Special Ed in this school is a JOKE! Don’t care and tired of fighting with them so taking to everyone else to fix problem.

My son has had a wonderful experience at Edgewood. His teacher, Mrs. Thomas has helped him so much with his reading. He loves kindergarten. Hes reading books above his grade level. Great school. I met his principal and she seems nice also.

I rate them as a 0 not the best school in Edgewood. My kids go to school there. Lots of bullys there and they do not help the children with special needs. They rather let them fall behind grade level then listen to what help they need.

The worst school I’ve ever had to put up mainly due to its staff

We love Edgewood Elementary! I LOVE the teachers and the administration. They are so attentive to my daughter's needs and take so much care in everything that they do. They helped my daughter adjust to her first year of school and helped her work through her anxiety. They also were on top of bullying and effectively dealt with issues arising from that. Because this is a tier 1 school, they have extra funding that they use for more teachers and programs to give our children extra attention and cater their learning to their needs. They are so wonderful. I can't say enough good things about this school and the staff there. I was so nervous to send my daughter here because of the low rating that it has, but I honestly don't want to ever leave because I don't think another school would give my child as much individualized attention as mine has been given here. It's been such a blessing and exactly what my daughter needed.

My son has been attending Edgewood Elementary since he was 3 for IEP instruction. I have to say that in 2 years, I have seen such a dramatic improvement in my son's speech, cognitive ability, focus, etc. Ms. Burke and Mrs. Jendrek are awesome special education teachers, as well as all of the assistants and speech therapists that work in the classroom. My son loves school; however, as he moves into kindergarten next year, he will lose his ability to stay at Edgewood due to boundary issues. I am concerned how the move to his "home" school will affect his attitude towards school, learning, etc. Hopefully, I'll be able to obtain a boundary exception, but the only downside to that is the county won't provide bus transportation outside of our designated school.

Edgewood Elementary is the best kept secret in Harford County! Everyone who works there from the principal to the teachers to the secretaries truly care about each child. We moved to the Edgewood area from another part of Harford County and I would never want my kids to go to another school ever again.
