i went to this school all 4 years. This school gives very little preparation for your life outside of graduation. they discipline the children very unfairly.if your a student athlete or related to the principal, your pretty much allowed to get away with anything. faculty focuses more on things like hats, vaping, dress code rather the fact more than 60 % of their students are poor and the students test scores super below average. most of the students are racist make the black students feel less of. most students when they graduate stay in this poor town and go to the poor community college down the road. if you love your child pick another school

I am a current junior at John M. Morehead High School and I give this school 3 stars. The school has prioritized its student athletes and more wealthy students over all other students. However, the school has recently shifted some of its focus on its art programs. They are beginning to offer introductory instrument and band courses (and in the past those have only been available to those already having taken the band courses in middle school). Moving on to teachers, oh what I have to say about the teachers!! In my freshman year, I had to take a recovery math credit course and i was absolutely horrified, but I am so glad to say that I had one of the greatest teachers there could ever be. Though the class was full of us apathetic students, she showed us that SHE cared and that she wanted US to care. She gave us all the tools possible to succeed in her class and she gave us the foundation for the rest of our high school education and beyond. I came into that class having less than the knowledge of sixth grade math and came out with 9th grade math skills. I also I had an English teacher that year with the same excellence. He provided a comfortable and safe learning environment cushioned with humor, kindness, and encouragement. Also he introduced us to some cool texts like Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. Then there is the Latin teacher who constantly tried to keep the class engaged with interesting Latin stories ranging from Romulus and Remus to Aeneas and Dido. Also if you showed an interest in the subject, all the work you could ever ask for would be at your fingertips. In conclusion, though i give the school 3 stars due to its unfair interest in student athletes and wealthier students, I give its teachers 5 stars!!

If i could give 0 stars i would i went to morehead this year. I have mild Tourette’s syndrome and provided doctors notes and even had my neurologist call to the school after being suspended and kicked from multiple zoom calls and classrooms at this school beacause i was a “distraction” i can not control my tics or what i say when i have them the way this was handled was not professional this was a regular accurance and i would have failed if i hadn’t transferred schools for summer school they also did not follow covid regulations i was in the medical academy and even the doctor teaching us wouldn't wear a mask no wonder it got shut down after two days of school and when i did get covid from them and gave paperwork saying i tested positive and could not attend class the called home multiple times they also proceeded to call home every day including spring break and winter break saying i wasnt on the zoom calls my mother even sent pictures of me in class doing work and they kept calling home

I loved Morehead High School. I am currently a Freshman at NC State University and I feel completely prepared for all of my courses and academic major. I loved the family feel of my school and will always call it home.

I was academically isolated for no apparent reason. I was passing my math classes with above a 100 average, and was placed beneath my class in every single one. Before college, all I had was pre-calculus under my belt. I was one of a few students who went on to obtain a 4 year degree, and above. I had more potential than anyone in this school ever saw in me. I was disturbed and saddened by the lack of attention that many of the students, including myself, received. It is a fact that students who participated in wrestling or popular team sports were kept an eye on. These are the people giving this school a 5 star review. I wonder if they have any idea that this school is Title 1, meaning it scores students VERY BELOW average for the entire state and has very little funding. I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this high school, or quite frankly the town of Eden to raise your children in.
