We enrolled our kids in 1st Grade and Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. We were previously in a well regarded NYC area school and were not sure what to expect but have been very happy with our experience! Just a few observations:-Academics: Our kids have made dramatic progress and are reading well beyond their grades. Our son is happier than he's ever been at school and his appreciation of learning has markedly increased. -Teachers: We had good teachers in our previous schools but these are by far the most caring, engaged, and effective teachers they've had! Our 1st grade teacher mailed our child a handwritten post card in August that said how excited she was to have our child in her class. -Intangibles: -In my opinion, the school managed Covid concerns very effectively. They seem to have found a good balance that allowed the kids much needed in person schooling with appropriate measures to manage risk and keep incidents isolated. -Both kids have made good friends. -The administration has been accommodating so far and we are hopeful this continues.

I recently moved my son here from a private school in Manhattan and I can't even believe how happy I have been with the school. The teachers are very qualified and kind, the curriculum is academic and thoughtful the community is wonderful. JMMES is a gem of a school. The strange thing is that the school doesn't have the greatest reputation when you ask around, which after being there -- I truly can't understand. I have very high expectations when it comes to my son's schooling and we have been absolutely thrilled with the school.

I attended as a child myself and heard good things through the years but was sorely disappointed when my own child attended. Stiff and inflexible would best describe the school now kindly, intolerant of views divergent from their own...even hostile would be more truthful. The staff does not like to be questioned as to how they are teaching your child; my spouse was a teacher in another district and they were openly hostile towards them when questioned.

I am thrilled with the quality of the teachers at this school. It is a wonderful and loving environment. They go above and beyond for these kids, great programs and great facilities.

I love this school. My child is doing great and his teacher is wonderful. Great programs, after school programs, clean facilities and a new science lab! Kids love it! The teachers are very hands on

A wonderful elementary school in a terrific neighborhood. Happy and successful students, extremely well qualified and caring teachers and staff. Great facilities and lots of support from the community.
