Simply amazing! The Principal, Assistant Principal, teachers and staff are all awesome people. My son has attended this school since Pre Vpk and is now in 5th grade. The teachers care about their students and even support them when no longer in their class. The Pioneer Day that they host every year my son never wanted to miss and looked forward to it every year. I can’t thank the whole staff enough. Job well done!! I highly recommend this school. Go Pioneers!!!

Since last December of 2022 a 4th grade teacher refuses a guardian’s request for copies of texts books being used in the classroom. I wonder what she is trying to cover up…hmmmm and a request for a classroom observation has been denied by the principal of the school. When a classroom teacher and the school psychologist recommend a transfer to a charter school with no explanation provided, either school and principal are covering up the lack of instructional integrity by school in general or they are covering up for a teacher who is failing . Perhaps, the principal doesn’t realize that by federal mandates parents/guardians are legally allowed a 20 minute observational time in the classroom. Also, a teacher who can not provide any type of instructional evidence (I.e. textbooks being used for purpose of planning instructional delivery by a classroom teacher and/or for student use ) and sends only photocopies of a workbook page she claims is the “child’s textbook”, should be questioned not only by the parent/guardian but by the principal as well. If it is a question of lack of funding and that the school does not have the monetary capacity to provide legitimate tactile tools of learning and all learning is done only on a computer, the parent/guardian should be given virtual access to all tools of learning implemented by the school. If a child is failing to succeed academically speaking, then the school should provide a reasonable explanation for why the student is failing. Is it the teacher, the student or both? But let’s be honest a quick rapid response of, “there is a great charter school…” is basically a tacit code for your child’s scores are low, and we as a school need to keep our state scores up.” Shame on the principal of this school & especially on the classroom teacher.

We love Garrison-Jones. The staff is great, very responsive. The new nurse is awesome. The dual language program is rigorous and interesting for the kids and the gifted teacher is amazing.

100% agree with the review by a parent from 2010 "The teachers are wonderful. Sadly I can't say that about the staff. They are so disrespectful, and treat parents like children." I'd like to add that they can be condescending. Crazy that hasn't changed in 9 years... I believe there is too much homework for the younger grades. I'm not just THAT parent, my mother is a teacher (who loves homework) in another state and actually agreed with me when I showed her all the work.

The spanish immersion program is rewarding and the teachers are awsome! Both my children are in the immersion program this year, one going into 3rd grade and other going ikn KG. Great school, great staff, excellent teachers. They however need to work on communication with teachers, and work on their healthier lunch menus.

I have a child in the dual language program and I absolutely love it. Having had older children in various other local schools I find the dual language program academically superb. All the dual language teachers seem dedicated and do an awesome job. I can highly recommend this program. As far as the regular class room settings and teachers go, I don't have much knowledge other then mixed information from other parents. The only negative thing I can say is, that (probably due to the size of the school) many big events seem unorganized. Also the front office staff is, as prior mentioned her, not very friendly or helpful. The ladies seem aggravated when asked for something and I almost get a feeling of being a bother. This is not acceptable, since the front office staff are the first to greet a new face. One other thing I have noticed is, that parent involvement (other then connected to the PTA membership) seems unwanted or discouraged. I think that was also mentioned in a prior post.
