Dover Elementary easily rates 5 stars! As a military family that has literally been all over the world, we couldn't be happier with a year in Dover TN! The faculty immediately embraced my son and pushed him to meet every goal. His classmates welcomed him and involved him in activities. Yes, a foreign language would be icing on the cake!!

As a parent of a gifted child, I am very pleased with DES. The principal is friendly to the children and very accessible. He greets the students, parents, and staff every morning and again when school dismisses. The teachers that my children have had are wonderful. Keeping a gifted child happy and challenged requires extra work from both our family and from the school. The teachers put in countless extra hours creating different assignments, administering and grading different spelling tests, teaching math concempts far above grade level, and helping all of the students understand that each of them needs assignments at their own level in order to be challenged. Of course, this is a public school and one has to advocate for their children, but I am very pleased with the school and administration responsiveness. I would have given 5 stars if only the school curriculum included foreign language. I think this is a short coming of public schools in our state, but there is always hope!

As a parent who had two children at DES, I can say that they both had great experiences while there. The teachers and staff are freindly and even though my kids were newcomers to the community they quickly became a part of the Dover Elementary family. My younger child's penmanship could have been better but overall, both earned good grades and had good relationships with teachers and freinds while there.

My child attended this school until I had to pull her out due to the ineffectiveness of the principal. He avoids problems and the school lacks the community friendly feel of the other elementary school in the county.
