Bullying didn’t seem to be a problem at this school and it appeared that all the staff looked out for all the children. My child was not in special ed but I always saw the spec Ed teachers taking extra care of their students. We had to move so no longer at the school, but we dearly loved it there and so did our child. Wish we could’ve brought it with us. Mrs. Rexford and her whole staff were just amazing! They don’t just focus on test scores, and they care about the entire child’s well-being and progress.

Unacceptable behavior from staff, especially principal. Unqualified teachers. Would probably explain unexceptional overall school grade. If there were a choice on another district, my children would go there instead.

Great. I have had two children attend Summit during different times. I have always been very happy with my children's progress in their education. I feel that this is a very safe school with great teachers and leadership.

The political dogma, nepotism and utter disregard for children's safety including bullying by the actual staff rates this school at "poisonous environment" at best. Multiple families removing their children from bus routes for bullying on the bus. Teachers making students feel unsafe while under their care or alienated because the teacher saw fit to raise a political point only to have it contested by a child. Children left to feel as though because they were bullied and stood up for themselves are just as to blame as the bully is psychologically damaging at best. It reinforces that the punishment for defending yourself is equal to the offender. The final testament to this school is the fact that 5-6 families all with the same issues transferred to other schools some even moved their children out of the DISTRICT while others had no choice but to home school their child due to the damage done. CAUTION this school has a habit of interrogating a child without a parent present when an official investigation is under way. We have even witnessed one child come home visibly beaten and the staff never bothered to call the parents to alert them of the incident. The parent had to call the school to find out what happened only to be told their lunch staff didn't report it.

Awful, terrible, pulled my kids out. I will never again let them be treated as this school has treated our family.

they have higher expectations for the students then they do for teachers. they also get graded on social behavior that's wrong. they should be graded just on there work. and as soon as your child needs a little help they treat them different and make the child feel bad. :( if your kid was not in preschool then your in for a lot of hassle.

Not a good experience for children. Since my Granddaughter has been at Summit there has been several major issues. She's in the first grade and is being treated as if she's in the sixth grade. Once they zone in on a child look out. We have gone as far as involving an outside therapist to get involved. If her issues are not handled correctly and in a timely manner we will leave the Summit environment for her well being. We tried another school she did very well. Did this for work then came home for the winter, put her back in Summit, big mistake.

My children have (unfortunately for them) been to many schools. After reading reviews I chose to drive my children 30 miles everyday to go to this school. It is, as I would say, average. Nothing too special about them. Seems like a typical elementary school. After the end of the school year of 2011, I decided to send them to the Cripple Creek/Victor school district - Cresson Elementary. I am SOOOOOOO happy with that school! If you have the choice, send them there! They really focus on each individual child and their learning capabilities. They do not hold the children back who are advanced and are certain to work with those that are behind. They have a new principal who is wonderful! Her own son is a student at the school, with a new fresh look at education. And you can be sure she wants the best for her children as well. Don't discount the Cripple Creek/Victor School District.
