Wonderful Administrators who are passionate, hard working, motivated and kind. Recently got the Blue Ribbon award for Texas Schools. At this point it is a PK-3rd grade school. PK is only for those who qualify (income, military, homeless). The area nearby is growing rapidly so they took out fourth grade (put in 4/5th middle school, Lobit) but it wouldn’t surprise me if they put 4th back in soon after they finish Lago Mar elementary. The only thing to think about is how long you’ll be in the district and if you want your kids to go to the upper level schools- much lower ratings. Look at the school boundaries before buying a house nearby, you may not be zoned for where you think you will be. They have crazy boundaries in the school district to keep all schools title 1. That being said, Calder is an exceptional school and my kids have thrived there. They have a culture of excellence and warmth.

Poor to outright physical bullying., to the accompanying nurse, not the student.

Overall, if you want your student to become smart only because his academic coaches help him during state mandated tests? Go for Calder. If you want your student to be well rounded and prepared for a career in the real world? Try lobit or bay colony. It doesn’t matter if you have the best or worst teachers in the world, if your administrators act like this, you’re going to fail in one way or another.

Poor to intolerable. If you see a problem and TRY to address it through the proper channels...it goes NO WHERE.

The school is amazing, but administration needs to change, and teachers should be able to feel like the Administration AND district is there to support them. Not just let them flounder and fail when things get hard.

As far as teachers, I would say that our experience has been wonderful for the most part. The exception to that has been with fourth grade teachers who seem to treat the students like they are junior high kids and often have a harsh attitude. I've seen and heard one particular teacher yell and belittle a student which made me extremely uncomfortable and I felt so sorry for the student. As for the leadership, both Ms. Acevedo and Mrs. McKnight seem to be moody and obsessed with appearances rather than taking care of parents and their teachers. My observation throughout my childrens education here is that Calder needs an administrative overhaul. Time for a change for the positive!

Calder Road Elementary is an awesome school. Both of our boys attend CR and they love going to school. The teachers and staff are wonderful. CR offers many extra programs for the kids. I am excited to see how having so many great opportunities at a young age will shape our children for the future.

We have been at this school for three years. Each year the leadership is worse. The school administration/personnel is very disorganized and does not have the kids best interest in mind. The school is over packed and I keep getting the same statement. "We have over 100 additional kids this year. We are having to do a lot of paperwork . We could not get too the programs that were offered at the beginning of the year because of all the kids. We are short staffed." Too many excuses (lies) for me. At this very moment I am making new educational arrangements for my child. If these are issues, then how can I be sure you are appropriately teaching my child ? Somebodies child is going to fall through the cracks. Calder Road needs new positive leadership. Not a person trying to please only the group of ppl she wants to please. Wake up DISD !

The teachers are amazing, but the principal is AWFUL. There is no reinforcement with discipline, and she will talk down to, and even yell at the parents. She is also known for yelling at her teachers -- who work VERY hard to make her look good (test scores). The teachers she doesn't like, she will make their life miserable so they will quit...and the teachers she likes, she will move them to academic coach positions. This school has a very high turn over teacher rate, which is difficult for the parents and students to understand.

The staff and teachers are friendly , smart and know there stuff. Making sure the children feel comfortable and safe . Keeping the parents or caregivers well informed of the daily teachings and upcoming events . Making the child excited about attending school to learn . Thanks for making great memories .

This school is incredible! As a parent, I could not be more content with the level of communication and concern the staff has for my students. The focus is always on what is best for the student, and fostering great relationships with parents and the entire community. The campus has the latest technology and materials for educational growth, and I feel confident that my children will be successful after developing their elementary skills at Calder Road.

My children have had great experiences at this campus. We love the communication that goes into letting us know what's going on. The school does automated call outs and sends out calendars each month to keep us notified of what's going on. They have strict policies on picking up kids and letting visitors in the building, but I think this is good because they care about the safety of our children. It's a new school but they definitely have their act together. My kids have always loved their teachers and I appreciate feeling like part of the Calder family.

I have had nothing less of an amazing experience at Calder Road. The teachers are caring and WANT to be there. The principal and assistant principal are helpful with any concerns that I may have. I feel that the school offers many opportunities for parent involvement. I am also please with the academic education that my child receives.

For Dickinson to have all variety of people there is no diversity in the staff. The solution to every problem is Special Ed, thats the principals approach. NOT HAPPY AT ALL
