Admissions staff is extremely helpful. Clear instructions and wonderful to work with. It is a big decision to send a child to a PMIC. Orchard Place is great for parents and children. The Orchard Place School is such an excellent resource. THANK YOU ORCHARD PLACE SCHOOL!

The Campus School offers an on-site educational program working with Des Moines Public School teaching staff. Our teachers are members of the multidisciplinary team who collaborate with child therapists, counselors, doctors and nurses to ensure that treatment goals are being met both in and out of the classroom. This collaborative effort helps children with serious mental health disorders reclaim their lives and helps families to reintegrate these youth back into their home communities.Of the students who attended Campus School in 2014 for 80 or more days:• 86 % of elementary students improved reading• 79% of elementary students improved in math• 73% of middle school students improved reading• 89% of middle school students improved in math• 80% of high school students improved in reading• 83% of high school students improved in math

The Orchard Place method sets both teachers and students up for failure. Teachers must threaten students in order for students to do any work; students do the least amount possible in hopes to pacify case-managers and leave the facility. Although most of the Orchard Place staff is well-intended, Orchard Place believes that the illnesses of the children here can be cured by simply containing the behavioral problems. Orchard Place therapists make no attempt to find the roots of these children's problems and few of them make the progress they could. Also, the funding for Orchard Place gets cut pretty regularly which inevitably leads to fewer one-on-one attention and crowded classrooms (both counterproductive for students with mental illnesses).
