Lowry Elementary has been amazing for my child. The teachers are unbelievably caring and genuinely want to be there. Many of them have years of experience and are leaders in their craft. Students have a tremendous amount of social-emotional support, including a psychologist, counselor, and social worker, as well as a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports system; Liberty, the facility dog, was acquired through donations, fundraising, and grants as an additional social-emotional support for the school community (no school funds were used for Liberty). The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is engaged in creating a strong sense of community and hosts many free events in order to make the events accessible. The PTO supports student activities and programming, community events, staff appreciation, and funding staff positions when necessary.Since Dr. Larkin's arrival as principal, the school climate is positive, caring, and safe--a great place to send your child!

My child went to Lowry last year and I’m so glad we decided to switch schools. The principal at this school does not follow laws for special needs children. She would be completely unprofessional in meetings, rolling her eyes when I spoke when simply stating needs my child had for their IEP. If you have a child that also has special needs, I would highly recommend finding a different school, so you and your child can be treated fairly elsewhere. I was also told their budget could not accommodate para, and they were getting rid of SPED positions, however, the principal budgeted to have a dog instead. Terribly managed.

This is a great example of what a school should strive NOT to become. The whole system of schooling is so disconnected that children are not safe going to this school. The whole idea is that children are a paycheck is totally prevalent with in the confines of this school. No one wants to do more than 7 to 3. and there is the air of entitlement to anyone working there. I expect this school to educate a breed of undereducated psychopathic future failures doomed to carry on the tradition of columbine. I had to pull my child and home school my child for several reasons. The teachers think that it is my responsibility to teach my child. My child was bullied and the school after three attempts to stop this still allowed the bully to attend and quite literally did nothing to intervene. I am now forced to stay at home educating my child I can't work and I am totally disappointed in this schools lack of accountability.

I'm really concerned for my 7 year old grandson going this school. He started here in June and no one would talk to him to make him feel comfortable. He had accidentally walked into the middle of basketball game to retrieve a ball that had gone on the court. the boys got mad at him and threw the basketball at him and hit him in the face. The teacher that saw this told him he shouldn't have walked on the court. Really??? He has said other kids call him weird because he has freckles. I'm concerned about the attitude within this school. No one has made him feel welcome. That is sad.

Lowry is an amazing school that truly cares about seeing kids grow academically, emotionally, and physically. The parents and administration work really well together to create an all-inclusive environment. The school-home relationship is amazing, teachers come out to the child's home to spend some time with them and see their home life. In return, the child understands the connection between the parents and teachers and that we work together to make sure our child has the best learning possible. I feel like the school continually makes strides for improvements, makes work challenging yet attainable and really makes school fun. Teachers have stuck around for many years even when the school went through some turmoil 5+ years ago. Strong administration and teachers and offers more than what people may realize. Lowry offers a farm to table experience after kids plant vegetables in the garden, the school still celebrates holidays with class parties and parades, and it just got approved for a STEM lab in 2017. It continues to get better and better and I love the variety of ways that parents can be involved with the school and feel like the community along with the teachers and students!

Lowry continues to exceed my expectations in every way; from academics to safety to the caring, hard working teachers & staff to the strong community that exists; which the newer principal, Dr Cooper, is working to strengthen even further. My 1st grader is thriving at Lowry, academically and socially, and is actually excited to go to school every day. You can ask for more than that! We're so happy that we decided against 'choicing out' of our border school or paying for private school. We have everything we need and more right up the street!

I've been very happy with the six years my children have spent at Lowry so far. Each of my children's teachers have focused on trying to meet the needs of the individual student to ensure as much academic progress as possible throughout the year.

I have two kids at Lowry Elementary who are both learning a great amount and are on par with friends' and neighbors' kids who go to other public and private schools. They have many wonderful friends at school and I feel the teachers and administration are dedicated, approachable and committed to our kids education, safety and overall well being.

Wonderful school. The teachers educate with incredible enthusiasm and do an outstanding job of engaging students in their education. Wonderful administrators keep the school humming along smoothly and successfully. Terrific diversity (and acceptance of that diversity) in the school.

My children are happy and thriving! They love going to school and feel supported and protected. We had many choices for elementary school and are extremely satisfied with our choice of Lowry.

We love Lowry Elementary. Our boys have been there for two years now and we can't say enough about the quality of the leadership, teachers and staff. Our kids love going to school every day and are learning with leaps and bounds. Their character is evolving to be helpful, responsible and independent students.

This school seems to have the same issues as most DPS schools...crowded classrooms and behavioral issues.

We are very happy with Lowry Elementary. We had our children in private school but have found the education at Lowry to be better. The teachers have high standards and work hard to engage the kids. They have an amazing technology teacher and computer lab. The neighborhood is composed primarily of highly educated professional parents who ensure the school is up to par and meets their expectations. However, it can be difficult to choice into this school because there are so many children in Lowry.

My child has had a very uneven 6 years here. Some years have been good and others have been awful. The PTO does a good job raising money but it always seems to be the same 30-40 parents at all events and there is little diversity in the PTO. Our biggest issue is with the school and district leadership, our child was the victim of an premeditated assault at the school by another student during an extracurricular activity and the the school basically did nothing about it. Despite the assault, complaints by other students, and a disturbing pattern of behavior, the offender is still in the extracurricular. My son is now afraid to go and hides behind bookcases when the offender's parents pick him up. This administration will not be there for your student in his or her time of need and will hide behind "policy and procedure" at every opportunity. I am glad my child will son be out of this school.

Lowry is a relatively new school in a great neighborhood. Pros - The parents are very involved in the school donating both their time and money. The facilities and nice, clean and like new. There are 3 different playgrounds to separate children by age groups and the kids wear uniforms. The academics are rigorous and you can expect honest feedback regarding your child. The cafeteria is focused on healthy food options and they serve vegetables from their garden. Cons - maybe not the best school for children with special needs. The grass field often has geese that leave a mess. Sometimes the school and teachers announce events with short notice.

So far, not bad. We came from a private school. so our experiences are different. Pros: Active PTO, the GT teacher integrates non-GT into her programs, and enrichment offerings. Cons: Getting too big, the bussed in kids that get into fights daily on the playground, the lack of communication for some SPED issues (you have to be on your GAME), and lack of tech for kids who need assisted ed. I have to provide my son's laptop. I think some other parents would just give up. I'm on the fence about the math, because they spend too long on below-grade level junk, but maybe I'm old school. All in all, it's a relatively good school for DPS. I do wish it were a little more rigorous in some areas, but time will tell. I do think the building and environment is clean and open, but man, those office ladies are snippy as all heck.

My daughter is in Kindergarten and we love this school. Her teacher Ms. Epp is very involved with the children and keeps us very well informed about her progress. It is in a great neighborhood and she has made great friends. We hope to keep her there!!

Lowry Elementary is a nurturing home for my two grand daughters. They love it. When students are happy, they learn!
