Stay away. If you have the choice between Thoreau and Jackson, pick Thoreau. Luther Jackson blatantly discriminates against children in the special education program. Look at the percentage of students suspended with disabilities vs without. The administration blatantly violates federal law. Stay away.

This school is terrible. I don't like it. The PTA has no say and the president of the PTA is a bully.

This school is very good, and the AAP program is quiet challenging! So that is a good thing. I don't know why it is marked 5 out of 10 now, but hopefully it will increase

My son is an eighth grader at Luther Jackson. He has had challenging courses taught by dedicated teachers. The teachers do a great job of putting the course work and homework on Blackboard. I find the electronic progress reports are informative, too. The principal is friendly and a good leader; the staff respects the students. The office staff is helpful, too. My son is involved with many after school activities, including Science Olympiad, National Junior Honor Society and Math Counts. He has benefited from the diversity of the student body as well. The PTA is active, although it is fairly small. My son will miss Luther Jackson when he leaves for high school next year.
