Cedar Ridge has an amazingly active and supportive Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), led by Leigh Ellen Atkins. Ms. Atkins does not like to take credit for her wonderful efforts, but as the PTO President, Ms. Atkins works tirelessly to ensure the teachers have what they need for their classrooms. Ms. Atkins writes letters and grants; calls our State Representatives, Partners in Education, and local industries to gain our school much needed funding for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities. Ms. Atkins works with the teachers to ensure our children are in a hands-on learning environment with a strong focus on STEM. As a Mechanical Engineer, Ms. Atkins personally knows the importance of making sure our children have a strong foundation in all their STEM classes. Ms. Atkins is truly amazing and has a huge heart for all our children.

Cedar Ridge Middle School challenges students by offering the following: Robotic Teams, Math Teams, Scholars Bowl, Spelling Bees, Geography completions, Chess Club, Future City completions, Concert Band, Performing Arts, National Junior Honor Society, Duke TIP, and lessons in Creative Thinking Skills. The principal strongly encourages each student to read daily at their grade level and higher and to have a book with them at all times. The principal, assistant principals, and teachers of Cedar Ridge Middle School challenge all students to achieve their maximum potential in the class room. So if your child wants to learn and be challenged, then Cedar Ridge is the Middle School for your child. Also, students that want to learn can participate in the Dauphin Island Sea Lab’s nationally recognized Discovery Hall Programs about marine environments. During the three-day field trip, students are immersed in activities such as, dissecting squid, trawling in the waters of Mobile Bay, and seining in salt marshes in order to gain a hands-on understanding about coastal and ocean issues.

The Bulling is bad, the teachers seem like they don't care, and the principal's rather point their finger at the victim rather than the bullies.
