Our public schools depend on government money to survive and state funds as well. Therefore the MCT is mandatory and a thorn in the side of all education staff to produce good results in order to maintain the funds to keep the schools open. Teaching to test is a major issue for all educators and one they would love to see go away, so instead of griping about the principal or the teachers inability to teach children what they want to teach them, elect officials that will do away with the pass any child whether they can read or not, and eliminate the teaching to test concept from our schools. Race isnt the issue folks, its how the children are taught at home vs. what time the teachers have to teach them at school.

I think West Kemper Elementary is a great school. The teachers are doing the best that they can. I believe the parent don't really understand what goes on in a school. Yes, they are preparing for the MCT test. That's what the teachers are suppose to do. The parents need to step up and help out. If we would get more involved and stop some of the darn complaining, we could have some progress.
