I have encountered students that are unaccompanied and unsupervised visiting the family dollar and coffee shop at on multiple occasions. The students are rude and disrespectful, one even hitting the window of my car and yelling give me money, this harassment is unacceptable. Besides their behavior the fact these children are allowed to leave the classroom or school without being supervised by adult supervision leaves me concerned for their overall safety. I have tried to contact the school directly but I have only gotten the voicemail.

The school has a very caring staff. They work as a team and are there for the students. I have a grandson that is a student there. He loves school and looks forward to attending each day. I give the credit for that to his teachers and other staff members that make him feel welcome.

I am very upset with this school. My son has attended this school since 1st grade and is now in the 4th grade. With only a couple months of school left I filled out a paper for a transfer to keep him at the school until the end of the year fearing that putting him in a new school would harm his education. I got a letter in the mail this past Friday stating that my son was denied his transfer with the reason being from a list and not specified. The principal goes by Dr. Hutton but doesn't seem like it because she is in fact the person who chose to deny his transfer. Now all they want people to think is it must be the child or the parent but not in this case. I am a mother who will stand up for my children for anything. The fact that he has had 5 teachers this year would be hard for any child or parent to adjust to. But to just kick a kid out of school for no reason. What a shame on Carr Elementary. Thank God my son will be going to Costner since we have moved. I wanted to wait until the beginning of the new year but in this case it must happen now.

Carr is a great school! The teachers here do a very good job of dealing withmy daughters developmental and educational challenges. The students are very understanding as well with her. All around a good experience.

N.C. schools in general: This no student left behind only applies to the one's that make it a Title 1 school. We did need the change in leadership. Our new principal stepped into a mess. She is working hard to make Carr a better school. My child (3rd grade) has yet to get the extended teaching she needs. The teaching to pass the End Of Grade testing doesn't help. Much of the needed education is looked over then going back to what the EOG has on them. We are involved w/child in school. We help in every way. I do think the school is on an uprise from this time last year. Thank you Mrs. Hutton for your hard work, keep it up.
