Cushing High School has a great atmosphere with a lot of positive activities going on each day. Students have an opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities such as sports, drama, band, chorus, as well as a variety of clubs.

Both of my daughters have gone to school at CPS for the majority of their school career. CPS has the benefit of having many options as far as electives go but with a small town feel. Every teacher my kids have had have been caring and have inspired them both to do their best and reach high. I highly recommend CPS to anyone wanting to move into the community.

This site is sort of like restaurant or hotel ranking sites. Heavily populated with people who have complaints, legitimate or otherwise. People are far more likely to go out of their way to publicly complain than praise. I've looked for a site based on actual hard data but have only found one or two behind a pay wall. I'm sure a more accurate representation is out there. We have had at least one Rhodes Scholar, Jay Rubenstein, a noteworthy television producer, Jay Daniels, a religious music composer of national reputation, Alan Pote, a director of National Theater in Washington DC., Arthur Bartow, Olympic athletes- Frank Lewis and Bobby Pearce, A player for the New York Yankees- Paul Blair, preachers, bankers, rodeo stars, business men and women have come from this school system. I'd rank it well above average though I was a very poor student myself. It takes good students and good teachers to make it work. And it takes involved parents.

I am sorry that my child had to attend this school. At the time there was not a site like this to let me know where it ranked. I knew it was a disaster because during the time my child attended I had to threaten them on numerous occasions to get them to do there job. They never let a teacher go no matter how bad they are and the principals are there to protect the district and teachers not educate the children. There is no PTA in the district and they let parents know to not question them. The school runs on the social standard of who your parents are if your child has any oppertunities. If it had not been for me constantly in the office and taking my kids to Stillwater for advanced math, music, and foreign languages they would have been in real trouble. I am sorry my children had to attend this district because of my husbands employment. Someone needs to break up this group of poor educators and put some people who really know what they are doing in to these jobs. They have a fine sports department but that is not an education. Look at the test scores to know the truth about this school. Most of the trouble starts in the middle school and they both need some shaking up.
