My child was sent to this school because of a misunderstanding at Sierra Vista. The principal at Sierra Vista at the time was cold and never spoke to us personally to understand the situation. It was devastating then for a 6th grader but turns out to be the best move for our child. Under Dr Umana’s leadership, I can see why Las Palmas have the highest ranking middle school in the district. He is tough, yet caring in a balanced way. My child is thriving and will be finishing middle school here. All the teachers we met are personable, passionate about their work and wants the best for my child. We just have to reach out to them, if we have a concern and work with them. Thank you for believing in our family and your encouragement to push our child for a good student life and education experience. Go Lancers all the way!

Most (not all of them) of the teachers are lovely and caring, they try to make the subject interesting, and they do care about their students. The principal and the vice principal are cool too. The field trips are fantastic! I really do recommend this school, they try to make sure everyone is welcome and safe.

All of our children have gone through Las Palmas. Their experience there has been amazing and we thank the teachers and staff for all they have done.

Like another review stated, needs improvement in up-to-date standards on all aspects. Location is not ideal.

Needs improvement in building 21st century college and career students, when students transition to Northview they are in need of remedial course work.

This school has some of the most engaged staff that I have ever seen. They have high expectations of their students in academics but they also know how to have fun. The teachers and staff perform for the kids during their Renaissance Rallies which has truly been entertaining every time! I think this shows the students that they need to work hard but can also play hard. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!! My child has accelerated her learning and has been motivated by such a strong learning environment. I feel that she is more than ready for her first year in High School. -Parent
