ASMS is a great school for anyone. I used to dislike math and science, now I absolutly love it. As of currently, math is my favorite subject! And all the students are very friendly to eachother and gets along. The after school activities are also provided for students, which are all super fun. And I do love community service and the long study hall hours to finish my homework, so I don't have to work at it at home. The teachers are the best part of ASMS. The one thing that kind of? is bad is that there is band 3 times a week and chorus 2 times a week, but you gotta love that ASMS ends school 1 hour early every friday at 2:30 pm. There is no discrimination and everyone is treated equally. (There are also AAA periods. Assembly monday, activity tuesday through thursday and advisory on friday. ASMS es muy muy bueno.Overall: This school is amazing and if thinking about sending your kid here you should.Extra facts: Community service once a month, concerts once per trimaster, no grades( meeting or not meeting standard is the grading system), starts summer vacation starting from 6/16/xxxx, musical 2nd and 3rd trimaster, there are 3 trimasters in a year, teachers are amazing, gives out tablets to every student, if found not using the tablet the right way the tablet gets taken away, uniforms are required (ASMS jacket shirt, and khaki pants, shorts, and skirts), tote bags for school bags, has to play an instrument, can choose to take Spanish or French, there are 2 building that are connected, there are P.E. classes and you need to bring your own clothes, but there are loaners. ASMS is muy bueno.Thank you for reading my super long comment.

ASMS has been an excellent experience for my daughter. Teachers and administration is top notch and committed to excellence. The culture is one of mutual respect between teachers and students. Bullying is not tolerated but individual differences are completely normal and accepted. Students can really be themselves. The technology used in the classroom, school trips, music program, PE and after school sports activities, and community service outings all make the educational experience even better.

As a student of this school, I was able to enjoy the advanced education that this school was able to provide. However, I'm concerned about my grades. Let's face it. In high school, it is all about the numbers. We use a meeting standard and not yet meeting standard system, and I'm afraid it is just not what I need. I do enjoy the luxury of "trying again" but I need to be able to keep up with the grading systems outside of ASMS. For all I know, I could have gone from a straight A student to a straight B or C student. But thankfully, this place makes up for it with their advanced learning material. I am confident that i will be able to learn what I need to with the ASMS teachers. They are top of the line professionals who I can admire. But there is one thing that has been bothering me. My parents sent me here because of its ability to provide a safe learning environment. The students have no grudge against eachother, we all get along pretty well. But I have heard stories about how some students feel like they're discriminated by the teachers. What I wrote a few lines above is off my own experience, so I don't know what's happening with my peers. But I have a couple friends who can be at odds with the teachers. Overall this is a decent school. The technology they are trying to utilize isn't badly developing and in terms of teaching material , they are top notch. You can count on what they're teaching you, but I wouldn't be so laid back about my grades.

Both of my children attended ASMS. The school provided a rigorous and engaging program while providing all the support necessary for both children to experience success. They are now pursuing paths that neither thought possible, and they continue to be passionate about learning many years after attending ASMS. It changed their lives and it was the best three years of their educational experience! We are all grateful for the wonderful teachers at ASMS and the positive impact they had on our children's futures.

My experience was terrible at ASMS. Being a child with an IEP was hard in a public school so my parents decided to transfer me to this school for smaller classes, more time with the teachers, and advancement in Math and Science. While going here, one of the Science teachers discriminated me because of my IEP and refused to work along the guidelines of my legal document stating my learning needs. After speaking to her and the principal multiple times nothing worked. In the end, we decided to leave the school we were paying for and go back to public schooling. If you or your child has an IEP I do not recommend going to ASMS.

I am continually impressed with the benefits that having sent our daughter to ASMS has garnered. We, initially sent her to this fairly new Middle School due to the lack of success in addressing the middle school facilities situation in Corning. The Option 2 vote didn't end well, and, then, a group of highly motivated parents took charge and created this new school. We were impressed and enlightened by the teachers and curriculum that allowed our daughter to excel in her middle school education. The quality of the academic/administrative staff is top notch. I appreciated the parent involvement and giving back to the community. I am positive that my daughter has benefited and excelled in high school due, in a large part, to the Alternative School of Math and Science. Her exposure and experience there has served her well in her secondary studies and will definitely contribute to her continuing education. We are very grateful for the dedication of the staff at this groundbreaking school in Corning. I am not surprised at the growth and expansion that is currently going on. Kudos to all of you -- from the initial creators to the past and current teachers and staff. Thank you!
