I have had 5 children go through Capshaw! It is a wonderful school that is dedicated to teach the students what needs to be taught. My older children breezed through middle and high school because I do believe of their foundation at Capshaw. My youngest is now in 3rd grade and it saddens me to know that we will only have another year after this year at this great school.

This school has been a nightmare. My child's teachers do not seem to care about anything then blame me and my spouse for our child struggling in class. Then she had the never to say my child needs special ed and the special ed teacher had to disagree. When I send a message saying my child does not understand the work I am told class time is too limited for one on one and we need to work at home. When I asked about moving my child to a different class the principle told me she backs her teachers 100% and they are not the problem. If a child is failing because they do not understand the school work and the teacher will not help then the teacher is the problem! My children will not be back next year and I do not recommend this school to anyone. They are more worried about their other activities than if the children pass.

This is a great school, they are supportive and care about the children that attend. They have a great learning program and do everything they can to make sure every child will succeed.

This is a wonderful school, full of pride. It has great teachers, lots of parent involvement, and high ratings. The school is very safe, clean, and well provided for. My child started reading so fast here, and has learned so much! I have been very impressed with the teachers and staff so far. I also love that this school is smaller, and I feel like my child gets more individual attention because of it.

An outstanding elementary school with caring teachers and a top notch parent-teacher organization. It's a beautiful building, too. Capshaw has one of the best reputations in the state, and for good reason.

My wife and I have been very disappointed with this school. Our son began school here with the notion that fairness and equality for all races was a given. We had an issue with the teacher that fed our son pork who knew that we are muslim and don't eat pork. After the incident, the teacher's reasons changed from your son is lying about the incident to I fed him pork because I didn't want him to feel embarrassed. Feel embarrassed? about what? When we met with the principal about this issue, she was not only insincere with her comments, but didn't even offer to sit with the teacher to discuss her disregard for other people's practices and religion. Talk about equality in the 21st century? We are in the deep south.

My son wakes up every morning excited about going to school. This school really prides itself on it's test scores, and strives every year to raise those scores by helping the children acheive their highest potential. This school is also big on using technology in the classroom, and every class attends computer lab weekly. My son was learning to type and use the internet in kindergarten! The principal is very positive and caring. This is an excellent school!
