This school is crazy there is fights everywhere in the hallway. From my experience the teachers are dumb I fr wasn't here for one day and I got a 0 on a quiz that was counted as a grade a my teacher said I couldn't make it up because I wasn't there I was sick. The teachers are rude/don't listen they sit in the class and let there kids talk and have there phones out. I don't get how Crayton is the number one school when it's a 2.9 out of all scores that doesn't make sense. I WOULD NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL IF I HAD A CHOICE

Would I recommend Crayton - yes and no. I think Crayton is on the decline (and I'm not sure why), but it's still a decent school...as of now. It's a real shame, because Crayton has great teachers and gets a lot of support from the community. There are always school problems and problem teachers, but Crayton doesn't seem to have a handle on it like they used to. Their reputation is slipping for a reason, and I think the administration knows why but either they can't, won't (or both) do anything about it. They advertise a lot of clubs and activities, but my daughter has not had those experiences yet. Sixth graders cannot do sports except for track and football (there may be one or two more but that is all). They should maybe offer some JV and Varsity teams to get these kids active and involved. I moved to the Forest Acres area to be in the Satchel Ford, Crayton, and AC Flora schools, but so far, I am not impressed with Crayton.

If you have the choice, DO NOT send your child here unless you want them to be bullied, exposed to sexual behavior far above their ages, exposed to drugs and vaping, and have the administration do nothing about it. The teachers who care, try their hardest, but as a whole, this school is an absolute mess and a failure.

This school is bad lots of fights and kids vape the teachers are not good same with. The administration the school is dirty some teachers / administration treats kids like prisoners. The teachers / administration. Yells at students for small stuff this is not a safe school. BAD SCHOOL DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL

Crayton is an amazing school, this is coming from a student, I used to hate school. But when I got to Crayton All of that changed. First off, the food isn’t that bad, it doesn’t look bad at all either. Second, the teachers are wonderful, if I have at least one zero, my teacher will let me know, there aren’t very many fights either, the administration and staff are awesome and very kind. Would one hundred percent recommend going to this school

Crayton is an amazing, spectacular school that your child would be privileged to attend especially if your student is on the honors and/or gifted and talented track. This middle school was awarded two times in a row SCHOOLS TO WATCH which is on a national forum. The students are very well-mannered in these classes. The regular classes have more behavioral problems and it's a less competitive environment but that is to be expected. The administration is super organized and the principle, Angela Burns, runs a tight ship. She is very hands on and really cares so much about her students! The children have more freedom at lunch and at recess (they can sit anywhere they want in the cafeteria) And the school provides footballs, basketballs, etc. for the kids to play with outside after lunch. The cafeteria gives lots of options to choose from. My kids usually like to pack a lunch twice a week. But a lot of kids bring their own lunch and a plus to that is that don't have to wait in line. I don't know why in the previous reviews parents complained that the staff/teachers did not inform them about their child's grades. Every parent has access to the parent portal that takes less than 20 seconds to log in and see the student's grades, and every single grade on each assignment and test. Parents have access to this 24/7. As far as the teachers go, because of Covid, e-learning I've had the opportunity to see their talent and I have been extremely pleased with the quality of their teaching and my son has learned a lot/is being challenged in every single class. (Their was one elective where he was not being challenged, but the Crayton staff made it super easy to change to another elective that my child really enjoys.)I didn't see bullying being an issue at all here. I saw some kids with dominant personalities, but because Crayton's administration strictly enforces the consequences/discipline for not following the rules, it is looked at as being "uncool" to be a problem kid.Also! Loved that the students get to pick one out of about 15 "hobbies" to group together with class mates for 15 or 20 minutes out of the day during class time. They also have flyers around the walls with feel good sayings that students are encouraged to tear off and give to other students which I loved! Lots of other good stuff about Crayton but I will leave it to you to check out the school for yourself!Mom of student and substitute teacher for Richland One

The information shared from the school to the parents is terrible. I am a parent that actively seeks out information too, but there is nothing on the website, nothing on facebook, the pto website is down. I can't even seem to find a straight answer online about how to get my son registered to ride the bus! I would like my son to get involved in something in the school, sports, clubs, anything, but how do I even know what to encourage him to do when neither of us know what is even offered at the school? We are moving away from this school after this year. Just tired of it. I know more about what our future middle school is doing than one that my child has already attended for a year.

The teachers are terrible. My son had a math teacher who was fired from another school district and then was hired by Crayton. He had problems learning in several classes because the teachers could not keep the students under control. The principal would not transfer my son to other classes when it was requested. I had another child who would grade tests, including her own, for a teacher because then the teacher did not have to do as much work. My son had a teacher who called him by the wrong name all year. When you express you concerns in school meetings all the administrators do is defend the teachers.

We are leaving Crayton because of the reasons stated in the comments here already. The African American kids fight like crazy in the hallway. My daughter was literally tackled to the floor in the cafeteria because some boys were playing a game. She was injured and all of the kids saw this but not one teacher came to see what was happening and she was too afraid to say anything. She is not bullied on a normal basis, either. The kids are just unruly and play all sorts of physical games like knocking each other over or bear hugging each other from behind, which makes my daughter very uncomfortable. She is in all AAP classes and I have to say, the teachers she has are deplorable. She can't even understand one of them. Several have made comments about how they don't get paid enough and other ridiculous things. She has told me on numerous occasions that a teacher told them this or that, which is absolutely incorrect information. Cafeteria food is terrible, hallways between classes are unsafe with girls beating each other up between classes. Some teachers are alright while others are terrible. My daughter overall hated going there.

As a former student I must say that I feel this school was fairly dangerous for a middle school. There were fights on a regular basis (and I mean girls hitting each other in the face with shoes/ripping off each other's clothes etc.) There were also many disrespectful students who were disruptive in class and some teachers who seemed disinterested in teaching (or maybe just worn-down) other teachers were great. It's as shame that as few bad apples have to ruin it for the rest!

Well to me Crayton is the best but not very challenging because I'm in all aap classes including MEGSSS and all the classes are a breeze. Yea the school is kind of broken up into cliques but what do you expect it's middle school. But we do have excellent teachers and I've read all the other reviews and in my defense I say that yea Crayton kids can get a little wild but we also get our work done and if someone isn't getting good grades our teachers work to help. Besides not to brag or anything but our activities out of school is great. P.S. No ethic group is making Crayton out of control or making the teacher job difficult. Every ethic group brings something to the table at Crayton.
