My child struggled a lot at this school. We had one teacher that really reached out to him and showed she cared but other then that we did not feel very welcome at this school. I was very displeased with the Counselling staff and very disappointed with my childs academic progress as well as his overall treatment in this school. I agree with others that kids from out of town are not widely accepted here. Since relocating to a new school district our children are blossoming. The behavior issues we had at Colton have disappeared and we are very happy to have found a school district that treats or kids with such respect, kindness and understanding. Colton school was not a positive experience for our family and I am frustrated that my childs academics suffered due to his experience at this school. I am sure this school is great for some kids but it was not a good fit for our family and we are happy to have relocated to a new school district.

This school provides students with an excellent education. In the past two years, the school has earned academic distinctions, including gold ratings in Newsweek Magazine. They have even had a Presidential Scholar (out of only 102 or so in the entire nation) and a National Merit Scholar. Both the football team and the volleyball team just won academic awards, showing that they have the best grade point average of any other 1B football and 1B volleyball teams in the entire state. The teachers care about their students and students treat the teachers and each other with respect. This is why so many students come to Colton School from surrounding areas. At a school like this, every student can be part of every activity and every sport that he or she wants to join. At one point in the year, a student might be taking calculus, be a member of FFA, a varsity volleyball player, and serve as ASB Secretary/Treasurer. In addition, they might be participating in science olympiad and singing in the choir. The academic and extracurricular opportunities are outstanding and students come out well-balanced and well-prepared to face the challenges of college.
