Was a student here, wasn't too bad. I did end up leaving halfway through 8th grade due to some mental health issues but I don't think it has too much to do with the school.

Mountainside middle school is a great school. The teachers are professional and the office staff is polite. In my opinion, great students start at home and the teachers are there for support. Being a teacher in a very modern world is a huge challenge these days and I understand this is difficult. I love that Mountainside is a school always willing to give back to the community through fundraising or food drives. This school is not the richest and not the poorest. Let’s be honest, KIDS are not rich… some PARENTS may be able to afford more than others, and of them, some are able to support more school programs that are to the benefit of ALL students. Our family is very traditional. While I may not agree with the politics (for example: the pronouns rhetoric), I do believe it is in the interest of all children to make choices for themselves that directly reflect a healthy mindset and this starts at home. Teachers should be employed to teach and I believe they do at Mountainside. Parents are there to guide with unconditional love. Students are encouraged to learn while making good decisions that will shape the person they ultimately become. Mr. Hare, the current Principal, does a great job of keeping parents informed of school happenings and I believe he makes an effort to impact each student positively. Mountainside places a huge emphasis on music education (choir, band). While I agree this is one form of art, I would like to see more support of alternative electives offered at school (home economics, sewing, cooking). The majority of the students at Mountainside are college bound students. Lots of the students are the product of past Mead School District graduates. I suppose we return because we want our children to have the great education and future that we were offered.

Horrible. If these are the people influencing the next generation then we're all in big trouble.

As an 8th grader, it is a much newer of a school than others, and there actually are not many problems. The students and teachers are nice and it has many, many students. I have heard other schools say bad things about us and that we are the bratty, rich kids. Honestly, that is completely wrong. Kids at mountainside are very respectful of what they do, and teachers MAKE SURE of it. There are many rules that go with it, but other than that there are so many worse things in other schools, I'm just glad to be going here. Not all the kids here are rich either, especially talking about myself and friends. A school that is newer and has a little more money than others doesn't mean it it is rich. It just means that this school must doing something different than the others.

Last year we had some problems with lack of personal skills with the staff. Rude, abrupt and not caring. This year is a new year and due to that my student has a renewed interest I going to school grades have soared.GPA has always been 3.5-4.0 and now is there again.

I don't know what the bad reviews are about. Personally I feel that the staff are awesome. You should trust me. Why, because I go there. Everyone is nice and I think that everyone at this school is very curdious. Excuse my bad spelling that's my only major problem with English.

We have had a very nice experience at MMS so far and we are half way done with our second year. They have even taken it upon themselves to go out of their way to call a meeting with all the teachers to help my son succeed in his classes. They do have one receptionist that can be a little curt at times, but believe she has good intentions. They use lots of technology in class as well to make it VERY easy for parents to be proactive in the children's education monitoring in real time assignments, grades and teacher communication. The only complaint thus far is there is no nutrition break and the food is HORRIBLE my son hates it. I have actually sampled cafeteria food from four different middle schools over the last two years and they do have the worst. LOL Other then the food that the School is GREAT, not perfect, but I believe one of the best in the the North West!!

Absolutely horrible staff. Called the school today, and was treated rather rudely and innapropriate. Expected more from the Mead school district. Have been with this district for generations. COMPLETELY UPSET - wow left an awful taste in my mouth. I have nothing nice to say.

Office staff was over the top with threatening "Becca Bill" when my 7th grader was sick for 3 weeks in spring. She is an superior student with normally very good attendance. Every absence I reported was met with a call from Councelor and followed up with demand for a doctor note. Had to have my Husband call Principal to deflate situation. My child's reputation for missing those days even followed her into her next year at MMS. Very good education, very parinoid staff.
