Unless you want a "woke" agenda shoved down your kids throats, then this is the place for you! "Human Rights" agenda is being focused on mostly in the classes instead of teaching the material.. I felt my child was being kept behind. The school was behind in teaching history and math that should be covered for a 5th grader. No SEM program for gifted students. Little to no field trips. I switched my child to another school close by and I have seen a massive diffence in just 2 weeks. I do not recommend this school at all! Teachers are angry and poor communication.

Teachers and staff are extremely disorganized. If you call the school to notify them of an absence, you will still get calls later in the day asking you to call the school to notify them of the student's absence. I care about the kids and I've signed up for volunteer work. Each time was a colossal disaster or I wasn't even expected, so I took time out of hectic 65-70 hour workweeks to be turned away or given nothing to do. The latest was a drive to SLC where I paid for parking, etc., only to be told by the location that the school never notified them that I volunteered. I signed up weeks in advance and also had email correspondence from the school. The time before that I was asked to buy decorating supplies and to come decorate boards in the hallways. When I arrived with over $40 of stuff, I was turned away and told "The teachers just decided they would do it instead." No notice, no emails, no calls. If you raise concerns with the school, they are shrugged off or treated insincerely. There are good teachers there, but the majority of the staff wouldn't last a day in a high-stress private sector job. So glad my kids are almost done there.

While I feel like the principal has good intentions with the school and stays involved with the students, I feel there is a major disconnect in how he hires and manages his team of teachers. There a few gems who work here and the school would fail without them. I know exactly what other parents have stated in their review is absolutely true-- Special Needs students are not looked after by the general education teachers. The supporting staff hired to help them care about them and do their best to help, but it is my personal experience that IEPs are NOT followed and when suggestions/complaints are made they are fielded by the principal who would rather sweep issues under the rug than teach his team how to become better at their job. Don't fall for the excuses! (i.e. they are new, they are young, they haven't had a full class, they aren't trained as special ed teacher, etc.) Do your research and don't trust just any teacher with your special needs child.

We've been at this school for 2 years. My oldest has high functioning autism, and the teacher this year (3rd grade) just doesn't like him. Period. He is a happy, delightful child, but he learns in his own way. She told me that she "knows what autisim looks like, and in (her) opinion, he does not have autism!" He is struggling with the new CC math, and she is just not willing to help him. The principle and asst. principle do not care to make changes, they seem lazy and uniformed. Attending the PTA meetings, I found that they as well are not interested in parent opinions. They have figured out what they want to do and that's what they will do. Suggestions are welcome, but never used. The kindergarten teachers are awful. Last year, my daughter's teacher STILL did not call her the right name at the end of the year. She was also completely unconcerned about the cliques in the class, leaving our daughter (who had just moved in and knew no one) to be left out and ignored. The teacher nor the asst. principle were willing to do anything to change it. She hates going to school now, as does our son. We are leaving as soon as we can.
