I’d give zero stars if I could. Bullying, unsafe and toxic environment. Lots of sweeping violent incidents under the rug and you will hear about them only from your children or other parents. If you ask staff about them they go blank. Staff and teachers look the other way when it comes to bullying. They try to take the easy route on things and are afraid to deal with the violent parents of vile kids because they’re scared of them and try to instead shift blame on the easier going, nicer parents and their children. Toxic with a capital T.

MY experience at this school was bad because i really deep down inside some of the staff treat white kids better than black kids and that very dissapointing they show more and more of it everyday and i'm thinking about leaving.

I love this school and my kids love it too. Im also happy that they now offer highschool classes at Garfield so my kids can go to highschool with already having some high school credit.

Garfield has experienced a lot of changes in the past few years but we love the new principal and admin team. I'll keep my kids here because it's a great school.

The office staff is rude and plays favorites. If you have a question they their answer is always, "I don't know", or "You have to ask someone else because I'm typing right now". There are other staff members who play favorites as well, such a certain paraprofessionals or security. If they don't feel you belong, then they treat you like it. They only call the parents if your kids are sick if they feel like it. One kid needed stitches and the parent didn't find out until she picked him up, which was 3 hours later. I removed my kids from this school because that behavior is very unprofessional and I don't want my kids to be treated badly because they don't like the parents.
