This school is awful. This is probably the only up-to-date review but the school has had multiple instances of bullying, and this school has caused my daughter to go from A’s and B’s to F’s. They have also no shame in yelling at children. My kid has came home crying just because the teachers. Would not recommend. Do NOT send your kids here.

This school has a high incidents of bullying. The administration does it best with controlling it, but I can tell you that SO much goes on that they can't control it. It's especially among girls. Some of them are totally out of control in the classroom and in interpersonal relations with other girls. Boys here seem much nicer. Recommend this school for boys but not necessarily for girls who may be more susceptible to bullying from other girls. The teachers - with one or two exceptions- are fantastic. They are so committed and understanding. Our child has depression and anxiety and the whole staff- from each teacher to the administration- have been SO supportive. Doesn't mean they could stop the almost daily bullying. They can''t be everywhere. But this can- and will- happen at any middle school and high school. It needs to have severe consequences, but suspensions and expulsions are now frowned upon the state. Worst punishment here is that the repulsive student has to have lunch with the vice-principal. Just keep in mind that 95% of the teachers here are very sweet, are totally receptive to your wishes, and are SO supportive of the child and their parents.

We were worried to send our child to Sylvan based on the comments from Great Schools, however we have been pleasantly surprised on how well the school has been for my child. Please take the reviews listed on this site with a grain of salt. Visit the school site and talk to the staff. The school has recently been rebuilt, and both the STEM and Band program are excellent.

This school is good but bad. About three teachers ruin this school.. If your on the honor role and avid, you should get a really good education, if your not, hope you don't get the teachers that scream at you and don't teach you.

this is the worst school i could have sent my child to. when i went to sylvan the teachers talked the parents and cared for the students now im referred to a website that is never updated. i know teachers dont make much money but they choose their cereer path and they should follow through and help our kids. strait A's to F's what a sad school

I am a student attending Sylvan Middle School, and I must say it is doing a fine job in teaching me not only the subject of that class, but other important life lessons as well. I can guarantee my own safety and I am certain that I will leave Sylvan knowing I can have a bright future. The principal is not a nice man however.
