I grew up in Washington Heights. My years at Mt. Vernon I had excellent Teachers who cared about their students. My 3rd grade teacher is why I currently work for a school district in Illinois.

I have been the opportunity teach engage and mentor students. Our school works together as a team to help improve the lives of the students academically and socially. Our school cares about every student and will work hard help to make sure each student is ready to learn and succeed.

I choose GREAT because my last encounter was so different. It shows that change is good some time! I am glad for the change. It has been positive.

I attended this school as a child and to see it failing on so many levels is heart breaking. The staff and faculty are very nice but it gets shadowed by the poor quality of the school overall. I sent my child to this school for Pre-K and the warning signs were obvious early on. The teacher was great but her assistant was horrible and routinely called off leaving her to attend to an overcrowded classroom and rely on parents as volunteers. There was even an incident where the upper class threw books out the window and yelled obscenities from the 2nd floor. My child finished up the school year and is now at a school that best fits his learning style. I hope that this school improves with this time.

i have attended mt.vernon since kndergarden and i feel that this school is falling apart. There is no stucture in this school. the students are not willing to learn just as much as the teachers are not willing to teach. the prinpcle is weak and so are all the staff members. they need to close this school down
