The administration has become so lenient partly because CPS as a whole does not condone disciplinary actions towards unruly students and partly because the principal is young and attempts to appease all. Teaching/Learning has suffered since Covid. This school doesn't believe in homework, vocabulary lists and tests as they much rather have students work in school only. Not quite sure how this belief assists in achieving higher academics as a whole when you take away the opportunities for continued education and then have the same standards when it comes to testing.Let’s not even get into the bullying that occurs and how ineffective the recess and lunch team are with their roles. You can drive by the schools and see them huddled in groups chit chatting instead of interacting with the students. Consequences are minimal and parents need to be held accountable for their students actions. My children have been in this school since little with one graduate. So we’ve seen it all, heard it all and experienced a lot first hand.

My daughter has been attending Bridge since kindergarten. She has had supportive, intentional teachers who have positively impacted her well-being. She looks forward to attending school to learn new things. The staff at the school is familiar with my daughter because meaningful relationships are developed outside of the classroom as well. I feel very confident that my daughter is in a nurturing school environment.

My Children have been attending bridge since pre-k and every year the school exceeds my expectations. Mr Guercio is a great principal and is very attentive to the schools needs. The asst. principal’s, teachers and staff are amazing. The counseling department brings a nuance to the school and shows children social skills, problem solving, conflict resolution and understanding their feelings. I have been involved in various situations and each incident has been resolved in an expeditious manner and with care and respect to all involved. The PAWS program is second to none, and the policies instituted and enforced by Mr. Guercio’s staff have brought on dramatic changes. The school community is strong due to the Friends of Bridge (FOB) and their grandiose school and community events. No school is perfect but I like to say Bridge almost is.

As a new parent at Bridge, I couldn’t be more happy with the education and the teachers at Bridge. There is a sense of inclusion and my child enjoys coming to school. My child attended two years of Prek and going into Kindergarten this year. As our neighborhood school, I love that I can walk my child to school and appreciate the location. The only concern I have is some of the parents are in such a rush and drive way too fast and some don’t even stop at the stop sign. Shame on those parents. Otherwise, no other issues yet.

The staff at Bridge cares so much about their students. They go above and beyond in many instances. Social emotional health is an important priority at the school. There is much community, involvement and parent involvement. The relationships built among students, staff and parent goes above and beyond!

My name is Bob Guercio Jr. and I am the proud Principal of Norman Bridge School! After spending one year as an Assistant Principal at Bridge, I found myself with the opportunity to take on the leadership role of Principal in January 2020 and could not wait to get started. Our vision for Bridge is a school that focuses on instilling the love of learning in every student. This means developing a whole child and not simply teaching to a test. Through a well rounded education, we believe that every student can access the intrinsic desire to learn and grow that will serve them well throughout their time with us and beyond.A combination of research based curriculum, whole class instruction, data informed small group instruction, and one on one interventions and extensions, Bridge aims to meet the needs of every student academically and social emotionally. If you are an existing member of the Bridge community, thank you all that you do to support our students. If you are someone considering joining us soon, please know you are already welcome and you can reach out with any questions you may have.

My child and myself, had a horrible kindergarten experience. From bullies to an awful teacher. My child is in a better school for first grade, onward and still trying to play catch up from being behind. Majority of the days in kindergarten at Bridge, the kids were on the iPads watching YouTube. If you can avoid the school, please do.

If there was 0 I would give no stars. Wonder where my previous review went. Do not send your kids to this school. Horrible teacher principal. They let children out without parents!!! Let’s see how long this review stays up

My child has come a long way at this school despite the nearly wasted years due to COVID. His teacher this year has really motivated him, she’s always responsive and insightful. The office staff are kind and helpful. The parent involvement has really amped up with the current principal’s regular communications to parents. He’s very involved, even outside of school hours, participating in Friends of Bridge events and hosting “townhalls”. My child is thriving. My only ask is more intensive curriculum (outside of accelerated reading groups) for children that may be beyond their peers in certain subjects as I think my child can benefit from more challenge now.

Overall my experience has been terrible would not recommend this school to anyone. The staff and teachers and dishonorable beginning with the principal to the assistant principals on down. Please be aware and do not send your children there unless you want them to be traumatized.

It's good but something more should be done with bullying

Fantastic!? They need better organization and planning but the teachers are great

This experience at this school has been the worst that I've ever encountered and would not recommend this school to my worst enemy. It deeply saddens me that a place I should've felt safe and secure is the place where I feel more threatened and harassed than anywhere else. My children have been discriminated against because they have an invisible disability. I would highly suggest to everyone to not let your guards down with this school and to be very cautious. Also please believe your children when they tell you how a situation took place as these teachers as well as the administration fabricate stories.

Bullying problem here. Teachers and staff do not address any special needs your child needs. The best part of this school is the office staff. Choose another school if you can.

Very very impressed with the teachers and the principal there. My daughter was having trouble in her other school with the teachers and the students all the time. In this new school her grades and attitude has completely change. At her last report cards she had all A one C but her attitude tours school is amazing she calls me and texts me at work to tell me how much she loves her school. My name is Luis Perez and I'm very grateful for the teachers and Principal at this school I would give the 10 stars not 5.

bridge is a great school that is consistently improving. I've looked into other chgo public schools and it my opinion, this school is definitely superior to many of the magnet and gifted schools in the Chicago area! Especially when you factor in the dedication of the teachers, principal and afterschool extra curricular activities,

I am a parent of a Bridge School Pre-School student. I have been overwhelmingly impressed with the involvement of my daugters teachers. The projects and activities they are involved in truly have surpassed my expectations. The teachers are very involved and truly go above and beyond.

Bridge is an amazing elementary school. My son graduated in 2011 and started while in 1st grade. I have another child now in 3rd who started since kindergarten. Compared to most elementary this one here is a good school. Teachers are great, the office staff are amazing and the principal is all about putting students first. He will make sure any issues are addressed and satisfied. If you're looking got an alternative to a private school and have to choose a public school Bridge Elementary is one of the best schools in the neighborhood hands down.
