So sad that the culture of this building has been destroyed in less than 2 years since Mr. Juan Moreno was promoted and they hired Mr. David Corey. So many families, students, and teachers have been run off from this (now) toxic environment. They can't keep staff and it's just a revolving door of people. It used to feel like a family, but with the changes all it's done is destroyed the community that other principals/staff/families worked so hard to build. This school has lost so many good teachers and students over the past 2 years.

We were nervous about the switch from private school to public school. And the ratings and rumors didn’t ease our fears. However, I can tell you whole-heartedly that it’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made as parents. The academic curriculum far surpassed what we thought was excellent at private school (it turns out, private school had actually put my children behind). My kids have experienced wonderful educators who took time to teach to each child individually as needed— helping push my children when they needed more challenges, and nurturing insecurities and making sure that they never fell behind in a subject. Even the librarian and school nurse have played major roles in the happiness and success of my children. They’ve experienced diversity —the amazing kids that make up this student body come from all kinds of backgrounds and income levels. My kids are better people because of their time at ERE.

Granddaughter has had bully issues for several years, and seems to be that it's not being handled!

A prior review alluded to bullying. This issue still remains. The administration has had several years to get established and sort things out properly. The car rider procedure has improved. They do have tighter security protocols in place regarding adult guests on campus. When presented with issues, the administration has been responsive if not effective. I can't help but compare this school with others my child has attended in both Chattanooga and the metro Nashville area however. While both of the other schools contained a similar diversity to this school and were also primarily attended by children from lower income families, the others did not have the discipline and character issues among their students that East Ridge seems to have. Parental involvement here seems very low and I think that's a factor. I've never seen such low turnouts for STEM events. The activity was well staffed and widely promoted, but with a fraction of attendance compared to a school we attended with 1/3 the students. Maybe it is better than several years ago, but they have a long way to go from what we've seen.

The security and curriculum are great for the kids! The teachers and other staff really care about the students, and answer and qUestions or concerns you may have! I love the car rider procedures!

This school and the teachers are EXCELLENT! My kindergartener is reading now, small words but still reading! The problem with fighting and bullying coming from the children bused in from other areas is a real problem. I think for the safety of the children who live here in East Ridge the busing needs to stop! Go to school where you live is much needed. I believe it is time for change at East Ridge Elementary for the better!

I work at E.R.E., and see great potential for this school. As this school was the result of the merge of two large elementary schools, it seems only fair to expect an adjustment period for systems to get in place, staff to solidify, and kids to feel at home. I am quite amazed at how well the first year went considering all the factors involved. I am certain beyond a doubt that things will become more comfortable and "well-oiled" in the second year. These children and families are amazing, and from all walks of like. We are blessed with diversity and culture, and I am so excited about year number two!
