This school is carried by a few amazing teachers that truly care about their students. Teachers that initially came off as cold and unsympathetic got won over by one of my kids, once they chose to open up. And in the same manner, my kid got won over by teacher, & complaints about her "attitude" dissapeared. She would come home happy to learn and talking good things about teacher. Its wrong to stay quiet. parents have just as much responsibility as staff in ensuring a safe environment that fosters learning. Dont just vent to another parent, go up to the principals face and respectfully but sternly let her know your concerns and problems. She may have her opinion, but no one know that kid better than their parent (i hope so) and has to be their strongest advocate. She may disrespectfully disregard a child by issuing blanket discipline without due diligence, so parents need to talk to your kids and go give face. its very common that she will punish both the bully and the victim, or worse, develops a bias for or against a child. Its easy for kids to feel powerless and without options when being bullied and then have to suffer more consequence by the authority they seek expecting help. ive heard plenty about those watching guard during outside play having favorites. those favorites also happen to be the bullies and their word is taken as fact. Thats why my kids have been instructed to (in this order): 1*Ignore the bully, they arent even there. 2* leave the area. 3* Verbally tell them to leave you alone increasing volume while slowing down the word. at the same time give the death stare, straighten up your posture, get into fighter stance (hands down to avoid startling the punk). 4* Walk to them calmly, with determination like youre walking through them. dont let them walk you backwards unless its strategic. dont start a shoving match. its a test to gauge how confident they feel now that your facing him rather than avoiding and even walking to him. If they start taking even one step back, youve gained the advantage. 5*give a disproving look, and walk away. if it continues. Hès absolutely encouraged to strike back, never first, never before trying to de escalate multiple times, but he will end the fight quickly, without injury ( to himself) and drown the bully's desire to mess with him again.

I don't like the way staff handles bullying they only see what they want.

The new principle has improved t he school in a few areas so far,bUT she is horrible in others. Kinder stay and eat breakfast , leave with 1 aid across the big kids play yard. Those kinder left in the cafeteria to finish eating have to walk alone to their play yard. She opened breakfast at 8:10 am when it starts at 8am only because she does not want the kids to play in the play yard in the mornings prior to class. She lied to my autistic son while he had a vary rare episode. She would better as a principal in a high school not elementary.

Way to many kids per class with only one teacher. Close to 1/2 the students are just learning English so this slows down development of any child who already speaks it. I went to this school and so did my son and it has really gone down hill.
