We have have been at Discovery Isle now for 3 years with 2 children. The learning environment, teacher consistency and the overall school have dramatically been better with the arrival of the new principal Cheryl in 2012. The ciriculum has always been great -- they do a great job teaching communication skills (sign language, English & Spanish, manners, reading & writing ) math, arts, etc. that you do not see elsewhere in a preschool and K environment. Sports and music are extracurriculars they offer for a small extra fee. Miss Geraldine and Miss Morgan have been really great to our children and their development. The kindergarten teacher Miss Shelly is well qualified also very good.

My daughter has been at Discovery Isle (rancho Santa fe/Melrose) for over 3 years now...It has been the worst school I have ever come in contact with and I have worked at just about every school in Oceanside for over 3 years myself as a substitute. I keep hoping that the school will work out for my daughter, but they finally went too far, and called CPS on me after I gave my daughter a haircut...(just below ears:) the teacher interrogated my daughter, then contacted CPS, according to my daughters mother. The school refused to give me the CPS report. I called CPS and they told me they found no need to follow up on the call. I don t trust the school! My daughter will never attend another Discovery Isle again!! Also, one of my daughter s teachers, in 2010, stated in a letter, that my daughter had severe learning disabilities, as if she was qualified to diagnose conditions. When a real therapist reviewed my daughter, in all areas, she stated that my daughter was completely normal. It seems teachers may not be happy or qualified at the school. I understand all schools have issues, but DI has too many. Please go public or elsewhere! .

Discovery Isle Carlsbad is a horrible school. I am ashamed of sending my children there. They frequently violate student to teacher ratios and they have terrible teacher turnover. My son had seven teachers in a nine month period. They look at your kids as dollar signs not as actual people. Please do not send your kids there.

Very structured, high-quality school/daycare. The school has a very "corporate, for-profit" feel, however their solid curriculum makes up for this.
