Canton school system is a joke, they have iep for those having a hard time that cater to their needs, but the giep allows for 2 hours a week in a gifted class. Unlike the iep, the giep does not give special consideration for tests homework etc. The school tries to raise your kids. Canton elementary had a copy of a custody agreement yet let the non custodial parent withdraw students from the school, and then fined the custodial parent for not having the kids in school. The learning leaves a lot to be desired, kids are passed just to be passed, there are not even enough books for every student Seriously stay away

If it wasn't for the administration, this school might not be as bad as it is. Truth is that rules are based on who you are related to rather than being based on an honest and fair system. The materials are also outdated and substandard and if faculty offers any new ideas they are quickly dismissed. Do yourself a favor and stay as far from CASD as you can.

I'm a recent graduate from Canton, and honestly I can say I wasn't very well prepared for what came next. I attend a very challenging college and it opened my eyes to the fact that I was not challenged at all in high school. I had to learn how to study in college, which is something I never did in high school because I never really had to study since the material was so easy. I think that Canton needs to learn to challenge their students more and really try to cram as much knowledge into us as possible. Or at least give this opportunity to the students who care about their education and future, and want to not only excel, but also succeed.

Canton is a good school and the teachers are there for the students.Sports are important but an education is also important and I think you can get both here.
