School admin is awful about letting bullying run rampant. When pushed to do something, they gaslight students and parents in hopes of pushing them out. Zero concern for safety. There are even kids who go on rampages destroying classrooms and nothing is done. If your child isn't a bully or troublemaker, they will not do well here.

If I could give zero stars I would. The leadership at this school at the assistant principal/ principal level is laughable. They spend their time on social media rather than communicating with parents/creating a great environment for student success.

The leadership at this school has dropped significantly since the previous principal moved to a different school. One of the assistant principals took over and since that day some amazing teachers left due to the environment. When asked about this the principal said they were retiring. Most of those great teachers that left changed school districts. Some parents are forced to move kids to private schools because it’s unsafe for their children. Very sad that this once great school has become a joke in just a few years. Hope the board fixes the problem. Most of the teachers are great, but I don’t blame them for leaving the crummy environment.

This school has an awful bullying problem. Administration and staff won't address it appropriately in order to limit it or end it. Personal experience, it felt as if administration seems to prefer to silence parents and make the victimized students believe they aren't experiencing what they say they are.

Most of the teachers are wonderful and go above and beyond for the children and the experience in early grades was great. Upper grade levels are problematic as they do not hold parent conferences anymore and have many times turned to yelling as a behavior management technique. This has been a complaint for years from families with no changes made. The no homework policy this year is a welcomed change, but inconsistent across classrooms. In the recent year, a change in administration has resulted in less open communication and lack of attention to parent concerns. Overall morale seems lower for teachers.

It has been the best public school I have ever had any contact with in my experience. My 3 kids have flourished reading more than I ever did and there skill levels are off the charts. Truly is a blessing to live in a place where I know my kids are in a truly amazing school.

Our family loves it! We are a mixed ethnicity family, and have felt very welcomed. We love the teachers, and the amazing principle (who by the way has earned top elementary school principle in Georgia 2 years running!) And the overall warmth of the school. I could not be happier that my children will have such wonderful memories to look back on when they get old.

My child has attended HFES for 5 years now & we have been impressed every single year with the way the school is run from the Principal to the Janitor. The teachers & staff are absolutely amazing. :)

Excellent school! We are so happy having our kids attend HFES. The teachers are wonderful, they challenge the kids. I am so glad we chose to live in this school district.

We feel at home here at Hickory Flat. We made the mistake of leaving to try another avenue and we came back. It just feels like we belong here. The teachers are wonderful and most have a great rapore with the kids.

My child is in Kindergarten at HFES and he loves it! His teacher is fantastic and I believe that she genuinely cares about the children in her class and wants them to succeed. My child looks forward to going to school and learning something new each day. The principal is hands-on, he's in the hallway to greet students in the morning and calling out names of riders with his blow horn in the pick-up line after school. My child was scheduled to attend another school in our district, I elected to transfer my child to HFES instead, for this reason my child isn't able to ride the bus to/from school but that's ok with me. I know it's early in the school year yet; however, my husband and I are most pleased with our decision to transfer. We hope the next six years are just as wonderful!

Horrible experience with bullying that is not addressed. Parapro's for kindergarten should be fired based on my personal observations of their treatment of the children. After school program is run by high school kids "monitoring" the children.

HFES is just fantastic. I can not say enough about the teachers that my child has had. Each one has been very open to meetings and input I may have. Homework loads can be heavy at times, but what homework she has is made to be fun and she has a blast with the projects. The school really maintains the latest in technology. I leave my child there knowing if anything comes up Ms. Rene in the front office is on top of getting me. My daughters only complaint (and I have heard it thru other parents) is that the two male "principles" tend to yell, and yell loudly at students.

HFES is a great school if you are lucky enough to have a child that falls into the average or above average category. I have a child with ADHD and have had to jump through hoops in order to get the help that my child needs and still haven't been completely satisfied with the results from the administrative staff or the teachers.

HFES has the most caring teachers that truly understand and work with each child so that they can reach their fullest potential.
