It took me almost 2 years to get my daughter an IEP started. The staff flat denied us in the beginning then took so long getting everything together to submit for the approval that it was a full school year before it was even submitted, then they legally have 6 weeks to finish it but now we are into the summer so it has to carry into next school year. There was no question she was very behind and has a diagnosis of ADD and Anxiety.

This school has wonderful teachers. Unfortunately, this institution cares far more about state standardized tests then they do the individual. If your child has aptitudes that are higher than the median range in the classroom, your child will not receive any services here. They will do testing and your child can be identified as a TAG student (talented and gifted) but they have no services for this child until they reach middle school. My child was identified as TAG and there was no differentiating whatsoever for him in the classroom. The teachers are overwhelmed with over 30 or more students in each class.

My 3 children have been attending Lee elementary since kindergarten. The school has overcame many budget cuts and still manages to overcome those obstacles and provide not only a great curriculum but they find ways to make up for all the losses. No bus service no problem, volunteers rally and walk kids. No music fine, they find instruments and volunteer their time. Now no gym and shorter days, not a problem recess becomes gym and kids who complete tasks are rewarded. The kids are rewarded for all their hard work and in turn work harder. The teachers and staff make the kids a number one priority even when they are not paid to do so. I cant think of a better school and as long as I can my children will stay in that school district because their education comes first and those teachers make it happen no matter what stands in their way. The school spirit is strong and the resilience of the teachers is even stronger.
