Sonoraville Elementary is a wonderful place for students! Classroom teachers provide a high level of instruction for students of all learning abilities. Students are greeted by name and welcomed as they arrive at school and as they leave each day. The teachers and staff genuinely care about all students at SES! Students work hard to reach their goals though out the year. The community and families provide so much support for the students. The teacher turn over rate is low and the climate and culture are high! Sonoraville Elementary is a great school!

If your child goes to sonoraville most likely they will be met with the warmth of teachers who love their jobs! They have a passion for education and making learning as fun as they can. Your child will be in good hands! Turn over rate is high. If you have more than one child don't expect them to have the same teacher twice. Some teachers left to find a more welcoming enviroment and some were simply pushed out for doing what was best for the kids. Resigning looks better for contracts. Teachers here are some things to consider. If you like scripted curriculum this is a great school for you! Administration wants a cookie cutter teacher so follow the lesson plans. Not much supply money. $25 for classroom for the year and not allowed to ask for any donations like tissues. They also limit copies. They prefer you to use sticky notes or ipads. Planning is very big at this school. Considered a script sized document that you will read through each day. Don't waste any instructional time. Do not use fun review games. Rigor, rigor, rigor. Don't worry about behavior. Not many consequences. Be advised they do not like you sitting down for any reason. Be prepared to lose your planning time. Be prepared to do the bulk of your work at home. Never grade papers at school and never during class. You many not receive feedback before making a low grade so you haven't done something wrong for the entire year before they tell you. Instead they know what your score will be before they walk into your classroom. They will stay as long as necessary. Be careful because surveys are not always anonymous. If you are very type A you might do well here. Don't bring your personality into the mix.Please note! This is not the experience of everyone. Some teachers have a very different perspective. Some do very well at this school and will stay for many years to come. It truly depends on your personality and what you enjoy as a teacher. It isn't for me. I do think Great Schools is a great tools for teachers to explain what each school is looking for in a teacher, and hopefully it will help you find the right place for you as a teacher.

I have three children enrolled here. I absolutely love this school and feel it has earned a rating. I hope to see one soon. As for me and my family I love it here. The school has very open communications. They keep up with parent teacher communications. You get ample notice of school events or needs. Phone calls are made when an issue arises. IEP's are followed and adhered to. Lunches can be paid online so no worries about lost lunch money. Only change I would make would be to bring back the art program. With out art there is a lack of creativity, light, and color in this world.
