This is a very bad school. There was a lot of fights and drama at this school when I was there. In the classroom , kids will be EXTREMELY loud and do bad things. You can't focus in the classroom and the teacher will waste time trying to make them quiet. Also, most classes are like super easy to pass like there was little hard work, in ela we would just read books and answer like super simple questions, and they had only a few tests and quiz and they were super easy to get a good grade on it, and in science I always get full points unless I didn't finish the work. In math it's just copy what the math teacher is writing on the board and zearn and moby max, and a few castle learning not that hard. And in spanish the teacher gives you the answer for all the work and even homework !! Social studies has to be the hardest class but was still not hard! The teacher only gives you grade for tests. The tests you could easily pass. You only had to study for the 4th quarter only but the other quarters you could use your learning activities so it was not really difficult and still 4th quarter test was easy as long as you studied.

Bullying is a big issue in this school. Instead of addressing the issues and punishing the bullies, administration coddles the bullies, making excuses for their behavior. The persons in positions of "leadership", hide behind their voicemail and front desk personnel, who will assure you that you will a call back, but it never happens.By sending your children to this school, your children can expect to witness sexual activity occurring between students in the restrooms, they will also be threatened on social media, choked, slapped, kicked, and verbally assaulted while in school. When you report the incidents of physical assault, the assistant principal will call them allegations. When you provide screenshots of the social media threats, the assistant principal goes silent and stops returning calls. As a teacher, you can expect to be physically assaulted by a student at the beginning of the school year and the assailant will face no consequences.

I had a not-so-fun experience there. I'm not there now, though, so I don't know if it's gotten a tiny bit better or worse.

Southside teachers work very hard for their students to give them the best education possible.

Southside Elementary is a large school but one with a great deal of warmth. We strive everyday to provide a quality education for all children. With at least 4 classes in each grade level, we are able to draw the experiences and ideas from many sources when we create a curricular program to meet the new common core standards. Our goal is for all children to work to the best of their ability. We do not accept any excuses and this sometimes upsets parents/guardians because we expect all students to follow the rules of the school and to complete the course load that is required. We are fortunate to have at least one CT teacher in each grade level to work with struggling learns but we don't use this to lower our expections for the children. We are very proud of the work we do, however, our proudest moments are when we witness the success and growth of the children.
