Busing has killed the schools academically and socially. It’s become a danger even to go to school.

Browndeer school district is failing all children especially black and brown children. Browndeer forces parents to voluntarily withdraw students after incidents when all families that live in the district have a right to free school especially when paying extremely high property taxes to live in this area. The Administration especially in the middle high school are very inconsistent. They continue to change leadership which causes a weak foundation and inconsistency. Browndeer is going down the District leader is unapologetic unapproachable and they do not follow DPIs policies and procedures. Teachers are frustrated, yelling at students and intimidating/ bullying students. They have poor class room management skills not trained in trauma informed care. The class sizes are large 1:25+ ratio and if your child has a special need they are not equipped staff wise to handle. I would rather pay for private schooling and move out of the district. Do not send your child here especially the middle/high school Browndeer is failing our children and going down rapidly and should be facing many lawsuits. On the outside the school looks great but it’s all a façade.

I believe the problem in this school is the parents. Parents can't even follow simple rules in the pick up and drop off line. There are alot of entitled parents who act like the rules don't apply to them. If that is how the parents act then of course the students will show that same kind of behavior. I am also guessing that these parents are not checking classwork/homework or teaching their kids how to behave in a public setting. I think it's time for a parent education class and the school would show better results.

brown deer is a school that only focuses on statistics and wants to look the best. But, there is a lot of stuff that they don't show teachers target certain students and so does the new principial! two students can do the exact same thing but if one of the students is a student the principle enjoys or favors only the opposing student will get punished. They target certain students who may drop there rates and expel them I mean 13 expulsions and it hasn't even been 3rd quarter yet that's ridicules . Some teachers racially profile others or automatically put them in a category based on what other teachers say about the specific student. Learning wise not all but majority of the teachers don't actually take there time and teach they read a piece of paper word for word then send you off they don't go in depth or really elaborate and they stack our students with so much with such little preparation. Moral of the story everything brown deer does is just for the look being actually in the school is nothing like they present and they will do anything for statistics .

Terrible, the administration and staff care about their reputation and their jobs. If the students have an issue, it’s a problem we have to deal with in “the real world” so we better deal with it.

Allows bullying to go unpunished. Police presence is seen almost daily

I'm a recent alumni from the school and I graduated top 15, had a decent experience overall. It's what you make of it. Students are different every year so you really can't judge them, the younger ones are often immature and many students come from lower socioeconomic classes. The staff is aware of this and do their best to tailor a comfortable and engaging learning environment for them. The students really need a good role model who they can look up to, trust or inspire.Unfortunately, one of the teachers many troubled students trusted was not invited to come back. This infuriated many people and I can honestly say, ruined morale. A lot of the older staff is running out of patience with the administration and this makes them less enthusiastic to teach. You can walk in and literally see how burnt out and tired all the teachers are. Food wise, the food is mediocre. Occasionally the bathrooms are really disgusting but honestly I just blame that on the students. I don't agree on the way how the middle school is merged into the high school and the administration's constant attempts on trying to be inclusive. The intent is great but realistically, trying to incorporate middle schoolers to a high school pep rally kills the exclusive experience. The exclusive experience can hype kids up, give them something to look forward to!Another thing; the school truly focuses and recognizes only athletes. As an academic athlete, we had to fight to be recognized for our academic achievements. The administration pretends they can take criticism but when asked genuine questions, they beat around the bush and if pushed a little, they become angry. I understand no one wants to be belittled by 15-17 year olds but they really have to try harder to listen and make active changes. Also financially, the school is a black hole. They are terrible at keeping track of money and we are constantly having to ask where are checks are going, what happened to the money, etc. Once we allowed our car to be used in a parade and our tires were punctured. We asked to be comped and instead of giving us money for new tires, they just paid for our school fees free of charge without permission.

The school of lowered expectations. It has so much potential - good kids (for the most part), decent facilities - but the leadership is more afraid of people "feeling bad" than developing and promoting actual successes by it's students (loves to promote the wonders of the administration, though). Try to find a posted listing of the Honor Roll. Or mentions of awards and recognitions kids other than the basketball team have received. Definitely a demotivating experience for both kids and parents.

I'm currently an 8th grader this year and they're a few things i would like to share.First, the administration is junk, they don't seem to care about the kids they only care about their reputation. The students smoke a lot and are very nasty(in sexual ways.) The teachers are somewhat helpful but not all the time. Secondly, the school is a mix between high schoolers and middle schoolers(which in my opinion causes conflict between the two.)The activities are very limited and boring. Finally, the cafeteria food is disgusting and chaotic. I would not recommend this zoo of a school to my worst enemy so please do not send your child here unless you want no future for your child.

Does not even deserve one star. Leadership is poor. Students are not treated with respect and integrity. Students are treated as delinquents unless they prove themselves otherwise. Teachers lacks teaching skills, faculty and leadership team offers no positive encouragement, motivation or inspiration. And the superintendent's last year salary was over $140k?! Go figure!

school system has went downhill. School is full of bullying. Teachers don't seem to really care about students or making school better. They hire jist about anyone for hall monitors and aids.

Terrible school. Management is clueless. The school is very strict and trying to be an upper level school even though it is not.

Love the school, but upset that when you move from the area of brown deer, the students are not allowed the option to continue at brown deer school system.
