BWS is such an amazing environment for our kids. We joined when looking for a preschool for our then 3.5 year old (what Waldorf calls "Early Childhood"). We're now in our 3rd year (Kindergarten) and we're totally in love. The thoughtful approach to every subject, including art, music and physical growth has really blown us away. I'm excited to watch my daughter continue to flourish in the grades program, with such a hands-on approach to learning with your hands, head and heart for all subjects. Our little guy has also started once a week "caregiver and me" classes at, which have been great for his development and to get to know other parents. I'm so glad we found this community.

I highly recommend the Brooklyn Waldorf School. My three children attend, and it is a magical place for them. The teachers are very talented and dedicated, focusing on academics, social skills, and the arts. The curriculum is rigorous without being rushed, and students go on to excellent high schools. The early childhood program is especially outstanding. As parents, we feel very fortunate to have our kids there, from nursery on.

In my experience, this school provides a remarkable education. It is a truly special place. The faculty is talented and dedicated. The family community is warm and energized. I've found the administration to be attentive and approachable and always striving to address concerns within the parent community. The no-screens approach and developmentally intuitive curriculum allows students to learn with their whole bodies, and supports creative problem-solving and critical thinking. My children joined BWS in Early Childhood and are now in the Elementary School. Early Childhood brings a gentle daily rhythm full of play, song, and the first seeds of responsibility, from setting the lunch table, washing the dishes or bread-making. Once in the Grades, alongside language arts, math and science, students study Mandarin and Spanish, woodwork, handwork, and create detailed handwritten books documenting their lessons. Every student (Grade 3 and up) plays in the wind and string Orchestra program. It's also wonderful that the curriculum is strongly rooted in cycles of the natural world, and enhanced by student gardening, yearly overnight stay farm-trips and seasonal festivals. Students even have access to study the thriving bee colony on the rooftop. The combination of a rigorous curriculum and a special attention to movement and grounding has allowed my children to engage learning in a deep and lasting way, and made them confident and flexible thinkers-- and overall compassionate human beings. I highly recommend Waldorf education, and especially BWS.

We have been at BWS for four years now, with two children currently attending. Their early childhood program is absolutely incredible, with caring teachers who are deeply knowledgeable about young children. We were not sure what to expect as the children went up in the grades but have been thrilled to see that the school and teachers remain caring while also creating a rigorous learning environment. My kids are always happy to go to school and excited to show me what they are learning. And my conversations with the older kids, like the 8th graders, leave me impressed with how thoughtful, intelligent, and kind they are. The school has a learning support dept that works well with neurodivergent children, but like most other schools this is certainly an area for growth. Highly recommend this school.

Our children have had a rich and intensive year at Brooklyn Waldorf School, joining for Middle School, where they were welcomed warmly. Teachers are extremely engaged and care about each student’s individual development.

I could not recommend BWS more. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this beautiful community. The teachers are incredibly committed, nurturing, observant and thoughtful. All children should have access to a school like this.
