Cardinal Spellman is a great school for students from all over the South Shore. Students are given the opportunities to join sports, clubs, and academic course they may not have been able to in their public school.

Problem monitoring student behavior. HUGE problem with vaping in bathrooms and promiscuous activities during school hours. Would not recommend

Cardinal Spellman High School gave the the educational foundation that I would not have been able to receive in any other school. The faculty challenged me academically, providing me with knowledge and confidence to carry with me to the collegiate level. I would not be where I am today without the education that I received at Spellman. Cardinal Spellman educates the whole student. They taught me the value of a great education, time management through sports and activities, and the importance of giving back to your community.

3 children and 12 years later...In 2002 my oldest daughter, husband, and I walked through the doors of Cardinal Spellman High School for the very first time at Open House. (Being from Marshfield, we were a little hesitant of the daily commute to Brockton.) After touring Spellman, we all fell in love with the school and everything it represented. My daughter absolutely LOVED Spellman. After witnessing his sister's career at Spellman my son decided Spellman was "the right choice" for him too. So, we had another great 4 years at Spellman. In 2011 our youngest daughter decided to go to our local high school. My husband and I were disappointed but understood it was our daughter's decision. Then, over Christmas break our youngest decided that Spellman is where she belonged! I happily called Spellman and my daughter transferred to Spellman in January 2012. Currently she is a Senior and has had the best experience at Spellman. She is involved with after school activities daily as well as winter swim team. Academically our children have been challenged, taking Honors and AP classes. As with any high school, you get what you put into it.

Choir at open house suggests a school top heavy in ministry yet the students rarely if ever minister beyond the confines of the school. Very weak in terms of challenges for the bright student. Religion program is equivalent to an elementary school CCD program, or worse, spending DAYS watching movies like "Superman" and "Friday Night Lights", Newer president of the school, Julian Peebles, is almost 100% in abstentia, This "education" ended up costing us $ on "the other side" with colleges - our child was not prepared for the SAT 2s for French, History or Chem because the teachers were so weak (the principal didn't even know what an SAT 2 was). By the principal's own admission, when the class president asked "why are we always the 'dumb school', he stated "every school has its niche in the Archdiocese", as if to suggest that it's an unwritten rule in the Archd that it is SUPPOSED to be without challenge. If your goals for your child extend beyond those of a community college, steer clear. Get a $ package from another school if the cost is your reason for choosing Spellman. You won't regret it. I wish we could go back in time and do things differently.
