Our school has committed a great deal of time and effort to writing a school improvement plan. Our School Improvement Committee and faculty have looked at factors creating hurdles for our school with the positive outlook of 'how can we better meet the needs of our students and community.' We view daily challenges as opportunities to improve. We have taken the approach of 'rolling up our sleeves' and doing something about our challenges. This year we reached out to our community and formed a team with community agencies to wrap services around our families in an attempt to meet needs of our children at the most basic level. We established a five day a week (cost-free) after school program to support students and families. And we have worked diligently to encourage attendance by providing several modes of transportation, close home contact, and incentives. Our small community suffers with homelessness and lack of employment. As the heartbeat of our community we have extended beyond the school walls to support students and families where they need help. We continually strive to improve our academic opportunities for students, but we are also reaching a helping hand into homes.
