Awful treatment of students by multiple school faculty members that I personally can attest to, there's a habit of some teachers and the superintendent to make fun of bullied students, the learning environment is hard to enjoy, the teachers don't normally offer assistance to students, teachers turn a blind eye to bullying, and the school board doesn't do anything about it to keep their awards flowing and to hold on to their "Bully free" Status.

Don't go here, the administration handles bullying poorly, few good teachers, as it stands I wouldn't go here.

My children currently attend third and first grade and have attended Brigantine Elementary School since pre-Kindergarten. My family resides about 800 feet from the school, so the activities of the school and the facility represent a focal point of our neighborhood. My wife and I moved to Brigantine from Mays Landing about ten years ago, were she attended Hamilton Township schools, I attended St Vincent de Paul school, and we both attended Oakcrest High School. My wife holds a Doctorate, I hold a Master's degree, and we both have several family members with advanced degrees employed in various capacities at NJ public schools, the majority of which are located in Atlantic County. The strong reputation of the Brigantine Elementary School system represented a major attraction when we decided to move to Brigantine. We already loved the island and the neighborhood, and the quality of the school system gave us peace towards raising our children in Brigantine. My wife and I greatly participate in our children's education. We interact with their teachers at every opportunity and frequently engage with PTA, homework, school events, field trips, and classroom visits. None of the teachers that we have met have been perfect people, but they have been wonderful people. Brigantine Elementary School is filled with first class teachers that posses and promote kindness, respect, community, integrity, courage, and value. My children learn in environments that are fair, focused and firm, but not rigid. My children read at levels far more advanced than I read at their age. My wife is a Doctor of Chiropractic, my undergraduate degree is in Physics and my graduate in Business, and we are truly pleased at the comprehension of science and mathematics that our young children have displayed. The professional staff of teachers and administrators, alongside the processes and ideals of the school have played a tremendous part in my children's development. A telling sign of the pedigree of the staff is that the "premier" school system in our area of South Jersey, the famed Linwood School System, just hired our Superintendent from Brigantine for their school system. However, much like any top notch organization, I see first class professionals stacked up ready to lead our schools, especially both current principals. My only complaint is litter on the school grounds.

I agree with another parent about how the teachers talk about other children and parents. There are a few good teachers, and my child was lucky to have one this school year. A lot of the teachers, parents and PTA are very cliquey and judgemental, in my own experiences with the school. But it is a public school, and it is not ALL bad. The town and the area is beautiful and safe, so it's one of those things I will learn to deal with because I like to live here. It's just one of those "Smile in your face, stab you in the back" type of places. I'm just in hopes that we all can be more accepting, in this school, and realize that every person is different and unique and can all bring something positive to the table. Gossip should be left alone - only the ignorant and narrow-minded gossip, for they speak of persons instead of things.
