AWHS has been a great little school so far. My son (Junior year) has had an opportunity to participate in a lot of schools sports and met a lot of great kids. The curriculum has been a little tough for him but I think it is more his attitude and not the school itself. His grades are not bad but I know he can do better if properly motivated.Maybe we have not availed ourselves enough of the resources there but I wish the school was a little more proactive in "pushing" or steering the kids to reach their full potential. Many kids today are kind of lost and I think they need more guidance than just what parents can offer. Don't get me wrong, we do try to guide him along (maybe too hard sometimes) but many kids tend to stop listening to their parents when they get to middle/high school and that's where I think all middle/high schools can try and set them straight. We are not trying to abdicate our responsibility but the schools do have the kids attention for at least 6- 6 1/2 hours a day when they are awake!AWHS has many programs that the students can sign for and the administration seems caring and concerned about the students and faculty. President Duggan and principal Dr. V (and others) work hard to make AWHS a first class institution. Many parents get involved be it making sure the student athletes are recognized at season end or being involved on the Parent Board. AWHS sort of reminds me of their (now defunct) baby sister school St. Francis of Assisi (also in Braintree). We get to know the other parents and feel like we are part of a "family".

AWHS is an amazing school. Starting with the principal and trickling all the way down, everyone is so involved in the school and goes out of their way to help students reach their full potential. The kids aren't just another face. The upperclassmen help the younger students and support them.

This school has been excellent for my 10th grade daughter. Big changes in her attitude and behavior, great grades, lots of work and great opportunities, clubs and teams. My daughter likes to stay after school for theater or debate class. She plays softball and hockey. She has visited colleges and taken weekend Women In Science course. This school has exceeded all our expectations.
