Ineffective teachers and programs that don't actually prepare you for the workforce. Useless certifications will be pushed on the students regardless for the sake of having certifications. Very few are relevant to the workforce. A depressing number of my peers struggled to read aloud, often needed the teachers help to get through material at or even below their grade level. No worries though, they graduated anyway. Physically, the school is old and disgusting, you're better off attending the school that you're zoned for. The administration runs the school like a business and it's clear where the corners are cut. The students themselves are generally friendly and drama-lite compared to other schools. For better or for worse, I stuck the 4 years out specifically because of the friends i had made. If bullying is a huge concern and education isn't, south tech will be an amazing fit for you!

My son attended 1 year in a nearby public middle school before going to SouthTech Prep Academy - strong contrast. At SouthTech teaching seems to have attainable goals, not only "survive every day", like most of the public schools. And money is not key here - SouthTech staff is much more than a computer periphery in a huge "educational factory"

Diverse because of the 13 Academies combined with academics. Strong graduation rate, life skills and industry certifications.

The academies are great but they spend so much money on them that the academics and the school environment in general is terrible. Most adults also don't care for their students. School grounds close at 4 on Fridays. My parents were running late but they kicked me out at 3:30. I was forced to sit in the rain outside of the school.

Excellent school in all areas of career and technical trade with academics. This school has 13 academies specializing for student careers.

Great school Good teachers I am extremely impressed with South Tech. My grandson is a freshman and after a month, was struggling. The guidance counselor informed his Dad, and a meeting was set up for us to meet all his teachers. They were aware of the student's difficulties and offered valuable suggestions and encouragement. I am grateful the school employs teachers of such a high level of competency and dedication. They are truly concerned for the success of each of their students.

I was never really challenged in grade school or junior high. South tech was not really that Great when I got there but I have seen the school grow to new heights with the addition of quality teachers and programs. there are some issues that I hope eventually get worked out such as balancing the coursework and career programs offered (the career programs should not take over academics). But all in all it shows much promise. I hope the students will experience the school for what it is worth like I did a few years ago.
