I went to BG R1 myself and now my oldest is attending elem here. I won’t say it’s bad, because it most definitely is not. He enjoys going to school every day, but there is a LOT of pushback on getting assistance for learning disabilities. Outside of that, I think it’s a great school

My kids have gone to BGE since Kindergarten and I have loved every teacher they have had. Staff are all very open to communication with parents. As a staff member I have had very few instances where I haven't felt comfortable in the role I was expected to take on. I have dealt with administration as staff as a parent and everything has been great. The nurse is on top of communication as soon as an issue arises and takes student hipaa information very seriously. The school has taken great measures to ensure student safety while on the school campus. Every effort is made to ensure adequate adaptations for students in need in their classroom settings and in their sped classrooms. They only issue that I have seen is with the sped director if the evaluation numbers aren't there to put a student into a sped room for minutes. It was observed that this person wasn't willing to hear the teacher's concerns, look at the documentation they provided, consider that there was an issue that hadn't been addressed, retest or anything for a student who was well below grade level in math but didn't test into sped for math at a previous school. I have seen some amazing improvements in student behavior, academic ability and emotional growth. My kids for sure have flourished in this district.
