My daughter has attended this school since K2 and has received a stellar education. The teachers are competent and have good classroom control, the principal is energetic and empathetic, and the school has a real community feel.

The Philbrick is a great little school. My child is in his third year there and we couldn't be happier. Caring and capable teachers, a friendly student body, engaged parents, and a great before/after-school program are just a handful of the things that make the school a wonderful place for fun and learning.

We love the Philbrick! This is the second year our son is attending the school and we will definitely be there for the forseeable future. This is a very small and very diverse school. It has a wonderful playground and indoor community space (stage, gym, cafeteria area). A team of parents and teachers are re-establishing a habitat garden. There are lots of field trips and school community events, and partnerships with BNC, Making Music Matters and The Eliot School. The Parent Council is very committed and inclusive. And now we have wonderful, stable leadership in our new principal, along with the team of staff and teachers. I highly recommend the Philbrick to prospective families.

Three Principals in 2016. High Staff turn over. High Staff absences. High SPED classification in male students of color at Kindergarten. Limited homework. Low classroom computer tech. Low testing preparation. Small school with huge class size. Most kids leave by Grade 2. No structured sports. No greenery; garden or green play space.

This school is wonderful! My daughter has been here since first grade and we loved it. Unfortunately due to a divorce and my having to move, yesterday was her last day of third grade But I would have loved to keep her there until 5th grade. She did extremely well. I have to disagree with the previous poster stating black kids shouldn't go here. My daughter is black and was an honor roll student. The classes are small and the school community itself is amazing! if you get the opportunity to send your child to this special little school do it!
