I have been going to this school since kindergarten and it’s a very good school. I am now in middle school. This school is very clean, safe, good teachers and students. Many good things about this school. The only thing is that there is nothing that makes this school special. No sports, no good clubs, dress code is strict, teachers slowly give up over time, etc. If there was more fun and interesting things about this school, i would like it more but it’s easy to get bored of. There is nothing to connect the kids all together. I remember there was one time these two boys trashed the bathroom, and as teachers, they didn’t do much. They just told them “don’t do it again please.” In my opinion, that wasn’t the right thing to do. And another things. It’s an absolutely huge school, two floors and so much space. So many hallways, but only one hallway for middle school. And it’s a very narrow hallway. If you want to be shoved and pushed by kids older and younger than you, then stay for middle school!

Special needs testing has taken 2 years and is still not completed. The car line is the most unorganized, chaotic and frustrating thing for both students and parents. You can wait 30 minutes in a car line and still not make it to school on time, at that point they make YOU sign your child in tardy, even though it's the school's poor planning that causes it. I've seen 75 to 100 cars arriving late most days as a result. The resource officer doesn't help by directing traffic, she sits in her air conditioned vehicle watching the madness. That laziness alone infuriates me as a tax payer. This line takes place 2x a day, at drop off and pick up. So parents with an extra 1-1.5 hours a day to spend on a car line you might enjoy this school. Additionally, 2 years with no homework. I have to request homework for a kid that is struggling and needs practice and help.

Verde is a good school, but a lot has to do with the teacher your kid is assigned to. If you're coming here from NY/NJ or tristate you also have to manage your expectations because this is FL. My biggest issue is with classroom placement - once you're assigned to a teacher, it is EXTREMELY challenging to switch classrooms and all this comes at the expense of your child's education. My daughter's teacher in first grade went on maternity leave after a couple of weeks of school (why would you allow that to begin with?) and the teacher assigned to take over was an inexperienced rookie who essentially destroyed the 1st grade experience of 20 kids because of his inability to meaningfully educate and instruct his students. He couldn't give me specific feedback about my child and kept pointing me to the iReady assessments instead of providing concrete areas that we can work on at home. For many months I literally had no idea what my kid was learning and she regressed from the things that she knew previously. Sure having a personalized device in school is great, but a device should not be teaching my child, a teacher should. Additionally, there was no HW in our class; as such no meaningful way to reinforce what was learned in school. We had to pay for tutors to get up to grade level over the summer. Bottom line, fight for your child and don't take no for an answer if they're assigned to a teacher with no experience or a bad rep. At the same time, make sure you're managing your expectations and not expecting top notch education in highly rated schools in the Northeast! If you're going to do that, you'll set yourself up for disappointment! Overall, it's a good school, not many other complaints.

Verde Elementary is a great school and we are happy to have our child enrolled here. The only concern we have is the main office employee, Phoneix. He is extremely rude and had a very condescending attitude. He had an issue with the fact that we were speaking a different language in front of him and the way he asked questions about our proficiency in English was incredibly disrespectful. Instead of helping us like his role entails, he tried to make things harder for us by not allowing any staff to come help after we asked and he was unwilling to verify facts and questions for us. His lack of consideration for others and how he talks down upon and treats children is disgusting and I question why he is employed at an elementary school. Extremely negative individual who takes his own issues out on others. Verde please re-evaluate and change.

Very weird experience here. 4th grade NO HOMEWORK?? Why comes to mind. Way too much time in front of the screen. No second language. Only one teacher per class, no assistants. Not academically challenging at all. We moved down from the North East, I am crying as I think of our NY public school. Academically Verde is a joke. As for Kindergarten-same drill, way too much time spent before the screen. One teacher per class. One particular teacher, won't name names here, gives out candy in class. Will she take my kid to the dentist also? Chocolate milk and cheap juice and some God awful pizza is available free of charge to your kids in the cafeteria to take care of their nutritional needs. Kindergarten has lunch at 10 am, how do you like this? Oh, and don't forget the car line! Oh boy, enjoy your slow ride for 40 min and drop off and pick up.

The PRINCIPAL is not leading by example. I had to have the District to step in a couple of times because of Mr. Moldovan’s discriminatory behavior. He bullies the staff members as well. He talks and behaves in an unprofessional tone. The staff walks on pins and needles in fear of the principal. I have 2 children that have attended Verde elementary within these 7+years. I have seen a lot here. The teachers and aftercare are good, which is why my children have attended this far.

If you're looking for a great education in a safe environment for your child, Verde Elementary is it. My daughter has been attending this school since Kindergarten and will be entering the 3rd grade this next school year, and we love Verde. Being a DC-raised parent, I have found the best location to raise my child. Boca has by far the best school district in South Florida.

I was raised in a private international school and was looking for something similar for my son, with good academics. Verde is great at academics and has a multiculturally diverse and inclusive community. It's teachers, principal and staff are excellent and very engaged. The kids love Verde, school spirit is high for sure, which says tons about the school. The school also has a strong and supportive PTA. My only lament is that it is my son's last year. Responding to previous bad reviews: Due to its high ratings, this school has grown tremendously, over 300 kids in 4 years. This causes reorganization of classes once final numbers are in after the first few weeks of classes, to make sure classes maintain an optimal size for learning. Enrollment continues even after the first day of school and since it is a public school, no children living within its zone can be turned away. So it has grown beyond capacity, pods have been added to fulfill the class size requirements. It is well maintained and has huge green spaces for kids to play in. Due to its growth and it being one of the 2 oldest schools in the city, a new school will start being built June 2018 on campus, where students will then transfer when the new school is completed. There are approx. 1060 students at the moment and while there are school buses available for those who live outside a 2 mile radius, MANY parents choose to drive their kids to school, causing long car lines and more pollution. Teachers and staff volunteer their time to be in the car line and make sure the kids arrive to their classes safely. This is a public school with over 1000 children, so parents need to understand that personal requests are hard to fulfill if all parents have their preferences. Issues I have had I have dealt with my son's teacher and I also have had meetings with the principal for any bigger issues. He has always been accessible, stands on the car line, greets students and parents every morning, remembering kids'names and is open to initiatives that will improve the school environment and academics. Yes, no one likes testing, but that is mandated by the State, not the school. Another topic a parent mentioned was the gate being en eyesore. Well, in this day and age, the safety of the children is more important than aesthetics. I've gotten use to it and feel that it keeps the kids very safe. I came from NY and California and when relocating researched well on what the schools offered. Verde has by far fulfilled my expectations. Parents and teachers who volunteer in additional programs make this school an even better school.

My daughter has been at Verde for 6 years and each year the school has selected the right teacher for her. My daughter has an IEP and their team has made sure all accommodations are being made so that she can learn. There is no full time gifted program but I feel that things have changed and they are clustering the children to challenge the students and keep the progressing forward without being board. The PTA is awesome and provides fun activities for the children throughout the year. They also provide funds for extra help. They also purchased sports equipment for each class. The school might be "old" but there is a beauty and charm of an open campus with large trees and nature all around. I have read the negative reviews and I wonder if those parents spent anytime volunteering. If you aren't willing to give and make things better than I guess you get what you give. I am very satisfied with the education and sense of family and community we have experienced at Verde.

My daughter is in kindergarten. I'm very happy with her teacher and the school in general. The school is pretty run down. That is my biggest complaint, although a new school will be built in the next few years due to the passing of a bond referndum. I also wasn't thrilled with how they started off the year for the kindergarteners- they tried something new but it was very chaotic.

Not a good school. Very disappointed. The principal doesn't pay attention to parent requests or problems with teachers.

Signed up for information on this school and got a request for a rating in my email so here goes. We were excited to start this year at Verde after moving here from another state. Have two boys that attend the school in grades first and third. The academics are ok so far but I feel there is too much homework in terms of busywork. The teachers are ok. I looked through the ratings and noticed a few other comments I wanted to reply to. Have not seen bullying from students or teachers nor rats thankfully. The vice principal I have not met but the principal was not the most friendly but it was a brief conversation at the end of the day. He seemed impatient though. The front office staff was ok. They were alot friendlier at my sons other school. The school is really overcrowded in relation to where my kids attended before. I have never seen trailers at a school before. The school is not very visually appealing. That parent has a point. Its takes some getting used to with the entrances being outside to most of the classroom areas. Its a very weird set up and layout for a school. Maybe its normal for this area. The lunchroom is loud but there are alot of kids. Can't rate aftercare or the bus. However, I will say the car rider line was a NIGHTMARE at the beginning of the year but has improved alot. I was concerned about the car rider line safety also just because it was so busy. I spoke with another parent and she told me there was an incident awhile ago with a child being struck by a car in the line but it was isolated. Maybe that is what the parent is referencing in their rating. We have not joined the PTO so I can't comment there. Its an ok school so far.

I have read some of the 1-star ratings on this site for Verde and the things said are simply not true. Some of the false statements are things like the school is old, the car dropoff is dangerous. These are simply not true. From reading the complaints, the 1-star ratings are coming from one person who is writing numerous times and are either very angry with the school, or our from other schools and trolling here to make negative news. This school is tops and we moved from California specifically to Boca Raton and good schools and Verde has not disappointed. Academics are not easy but that is good, not bad. The car dropoff and pickup are super safe and the school facilities are a number one.

First, no parent concern is silly. Changes in classroom placements are major changes that impact academics. The principal/assistant principal do need to learn how to manage their emotions in a professional environment. It is not what they are saying in so much as the tone of how they are saying it. And yes, covering up the tattoo is considered professional (not silly) in a work environment. It is a school, not a bar. The school is old/overpopulated and the security fences are an eyesore. The car rider line is a nightmare and downright scary and dangerous. Some of the teachers, not all, need to improve their tone as well. If you want respect from the kids then you have to set an example. And no, the principal does not always speak in an appropriate manner to all students. I think time could be better spent in listening to the parents whose tax dollars fund these schools to determine how to make improvements versus tooting your own horn "here". Lastly, homework policies need to be reconsidered - research says that homework has no academic affect in elementary school. That time could be better spent on real learning or playing/relaxing/family time after a long school day.

This school is Big dissapointment!! Dirty, old, nasty!! I thought it was suppose to be so good. Huh? They act like a wanna be military school? They talk to the children so rudely sometimes, yelling at them, little kids are crying. They act like bullies to the kids, there is NO fairness there at all. Especially administration! Principal is clueless as is the ass't principal. Children get lost because there teacher forgets to bring them back inside from recess and they are wandering around clueless. Just Horrible
