You'll be surprised that this is a review from a Landon alum who graduated on 1981. What can a now 61 yr old man have to say about a school he attended so long as go? Landon has always been a place where the word THRIVE has a place. I attended Landon for only 3 yesrs, but during that time I was able to excel because of the intimate size of the school.I edited the literary magazine, wrote for the newspaper and enjoyed participating in both JV and intramural sports. Graduated near the top of my class and was accepted to some excellent schools. It wasn't easy adjusting to a school where many had friendships from the third grade onwards, but I was one of several who were new to the school in the fall of 1978.The faculty consisted of many "masters" who had served at Landon for 10, 20 years or even longer. When I return to Landon it feels like Im visiting an old friend. Recently the campus has been renovated and it only faintly resembles the school I recall. But from the reviews I've read, the Honor Code still makes Landon a special place.

Our son has been a Landon Bear since Lower School and is now an Upper School bear! We have always been thrilled with the community, the academics, the opportunities available to the young men and the leadership throughout each division. Landon is not simply a school. Landon is a place where a young man grow into his best self, develop excellent character habits, a sense of social/community responsibility & a code of ethics that follows him for life. These young men do not only develop academically, but they gain brothers. The best decision we ever made for our son was to attend Landon.

Landon has reviews which state attendance destroyed their son. That is not typical of any school and it is also our family's experience. Landon does not have an anti-bullying policy. A code of conduct is not enough. It does not allow for anonymous reporting of bullying or systematic procedures to support those who are bullied or deter those that bully. The code of conduct does not provide a consistent and transparent discipline process. Teens need discipline process that allows for and addresses mistakes in a way that guides a teen through the process of reflection and making amends in a manner that builds confidence and does not destroy and humiliate. There is no PTA giving parents a way to build community among each other and connections with the adults that affect their son. A certified school counselor who is well versed and trains the faculty in identifying and reporting risks facing teens is very necessary, in the midst of a nation-wide mental health crisis with suicide being the number one killer of teen boys. Our charismatic and academic son found himself in the deep end of the Lord of the Flies. Before you enroll your child, find out if there is a PTA (yes it's important in high school too!), find out what exactly the discipline code entails and does it include a robust anti-bullying process (not just the occasional ethics meeting on the topic), find out what resources are provided if your child has a lengthy absence due to illness or injury; find out the credentials and availability of the school counselor(s). And finally, find out how many "new" kids last at this school.

My son just completed his first year at Landon coming from a local public school. He has absolutely thrived and moving him is one of the best decisions that we have ever made. The teachers, staff and coaches are very engaged in the students success and my son has grown in ways I have never expected. This year alone he joined the book club, participated in the school play and was very involved in many volunteer activities. I truly believe he would not have had the confidence to do any of these things without the support of the staff.

Our son completed his first year at Landon and has thrived. It's a superb place-though they should elevate and highlight its great arts offerings. It's super pricey, however, and while we struggle with the tuition it's a priority.

Our twin boys have been at Landon for two years. Our only regret is that we didn't move them over before 7th grade. Since coming to Landon, they both have absolutely thrived. Individually, they have each formed strong relationships with teachers and have felt mentored. The friend group that they have formed with fellow students is absolutely wonderful. Each of the boys is respectful, supportive, and intelligent. We also like that there is greater diversity at Landon than there was at our local public middle school. The parent community is very engaged. We have found lots of ways to get involved and truly feel that we are also part of the Landon family. You can tell that the administration and all the teachers and staff really care about each and every student. Go Bears!!

Our son in is his third year at Landon and we could not be more thrilled. From our first tour... through the admissions process... and now as an ongoing student, our family is completely pleased with all aspects of Landon. Leadership is where the positive experience begins and it is consistent throughout the campus. Teachers, faculty, security and the community create an environment that allows the boys to learn, grow, explore and become well rounded boys & young men.We loved the application process and the community aspect was evident from day one. Imagine a learning environment where boys want to learn, are excited for school and where their teachers support them consistently. This is Landon. Hands down, attending Landon is the best decision we have ever made for our son.

I have been Going to Landon for 4 years and am currently a junior in the upper school. Nobody falls through the cracks, and everyone is supportive in the long run. I have made great friends and believe that anyone can find a place at Landon should they look for it. At Landon, the workload oftentimes comes in waves, where one week you will be gliding by and the next you have large amounts of work, this has taught me to manage my time and get ahead. In terms of sports, we are always competing for trophies, sports are required. The sports requirement is something everyone at Landon agrees is beneficial even if you are generally unathletic because it teaches you how to be part of a team. Overall my experience at Landon has been overwhelmingly positive.

I am currently a senior, and came to Landon my freshman year. I have enjoyed my experience at Landon, to say the least. I am glad I chose to go to Landon and would not choose any other way if I had to do it over again. Landon has prepared me for college, and has helped me to grow into a great young man.

Landon is a wonderful school that holds its students to a high standard in, and out of the classroom. Landon offers a perfectly balanced program between incredible academics and stunning sports teams.

My son entered Landon in the 5th grade, and in his first week he injured himself and was in a wheel chair for 3 months! It was horrible, as he is very shy and the school pushed independence so he had to figure out how to get to classes, even though the campus is huge. However, this event turned into a blessing as he met his best friend and other boys who had serious compassion. Since then, he has excelled at making friends and being happy. He is not a super sporty kid at all, and at times feels intimidated by the 10% of super jocks that represent the reputation of the school. But otherwise, the boys all really seem to get along, regardless of their personality type. The teachers are all amazing and really care about the boys. They work hard to make learning fun for kids at all levels, including adding extra challenges for my academically "gifted" son who needs the extra challenge. Administration has been amazing in helping our son through some touch medical times and absences, including helping provide work at home so that he could keep up after being out of school for a month. This school may not be for everyone, but I am so glad I did not listen to others about it's reputation and went to see it for myself. It has a top notch music program, arts program, performing arts program, sports program as well as an amazing learning center for kids that need extra help. My son also has a food allergy and their cafeteria team has bent over backwards to make sure my son has a hot, nutritious, allergy-safe meal daily. While no school is perfect, this one really is doing an amazing job at re-branding themselves to be one of the top schools in the Metro DC area.

Landon School not only has amazing education but the athletics here are great for young men. I've been around the educators and always feel comfortable whenever asking tough questions. Great job, keep it up Landon!

Impressive school with a strong history. The headmaster clearly cares about the kids here at the school and the staff are invested in the long term trajectory of the school and the students. It's also clearly the place to go in the DMV if your son is interested in Lacrosse at the collegiate level.

The school is kind of cold. We are used to a more friendly environment at our previous school

The kids are mean and cliquey and all rich and snobby. Academics are horrible it's just a school for pampered kids honestly just go to public school because it will provide a better education. The only thing they're good at is sports but that doesn't even matter because hardly any kids will have a future being professional athletes anyway.

Amazing school! All components of the curriculum are outstanding. Academics, sports, the arts and music programs are all top notch. The boys are challenged in an extremely nurturing environment and the faculty is outstanding and caring. The strong community bond and brotherhood amongst the boys is exceptional. Having such a beautiful campus is a plus!

Landon school is terrible all they are about is safety if you want your child to hate life send him to landon. They are terrible about school closing sand delays their gradually gliding downhill from the powerhouse at everything it used to be. The teachers don't care about helping your kids all they care about is not helping your kids. They are pompous freaks over their. I would rather send my child to public school. Hope this helps and believe me I've had 3 kids go through this school.

A school that advertises high standards should think twice when it comes to their faculty. They should have a better selection method to avoid getting people on board who have real life issues. Bad influence for middle school age kids.
