Awful do not send your kid here. If you do expect to hear them getting picked on every day almost or talk about other kids getting picked on. AWFUL SCHOOL MR ROSS IS A TERRIBLE PRINCPAL

Anderson has great teachers. They go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. I like all the opportunities kids have to get involved with. My child was well prepared for high school.

Worked as a substitute teacher for a day. I have several years experience in education and have never experienced anything like this school. The students are undisciplined, rude, and disrespectful. Teaching one class in language arts, the class got out of hand. They were using unacceptable racial slurs and profanity. They were slamming desks and stomping feet. I am embarrassed for the school because of the conduct. Assistant principal was made aware of the situation and the fact that students were being violent and vulgar, but didn't seem to care or believe me. The students are completely out of control. They are able to roam the halls and be disruptive without any discipline. Students are allowed to have cell phones on them and allowed to text in class to friends and family. There is little opportunity to learn because of this. The teachers are passive. The students are read to (not given their own books) and do not have very good comprehension skills. Other schools in the Berkley system are excellent, but I would not send my child to this school.

I am proud to say that my daugher attended and graduated from Anderson with honors. My child is African American, she nor I had any problems with the students or staff at Anderson with regards to race relations. I am a very hands on parent, so everyone knew me very well. I believe when you place your child in a environment where the majority of the student population is white, the student and parents must be prepared to adjust. Parents and students should have the personality and ability be able to live and go to school any where and be happy, but sometimes you must make sacrafices. If I must make a comment it would be on Black History Month. I recomment all teachers and classes particpate in having the children learn something about a black historian figure, a landmark and/or the history of slavery then and now. My daugher will be attending Berkley H.S. and I am look forward to her adjustment there. A.L.
