I recently graduated from Belvidere and for the most part Belvidere's education is good. Most of the teachers are great and care about your succession; the problem is the amount of kids that don't want to apply themselves. Few teachers like to fail students as if the school was Harvard (John Owens). To save your GPA from John Owens I would just go to AP to not have him!

It is a good school if you are a low quality administrator or teacher seeking employment in education. If you are a parent with the least bit of concern for your child, home school or move.

This school is a complete joke, high drug use, plenty of fighting, a very promiscuous student body, and an administration that would rather bury their heads in the sand and pretend everything is just fine then admit they have lost control. The current board of educations members are completely incompetent. Read the reviews on this page by some of the BHS graduates, and you can see for yourself the school has no ability to educate.

If you are thinking of moving to this area and will have children attending this school, and care about their future, I highly recommend you look in another district. This is a school for underacheivers. There is no encouragement to achieve, anything, even the sports teams make no cuts. Most graduates will go to community college, if they go at all. But on the bright side they'll make the team.

Fights numerous times a year, no cameras, they are on the third Principal in 3 years! Academically deficient. NO computer courses. Teachers were good, but so many cuts, no parent involvement with academics; just sports. Many good young teachers were let go.
